    Colt Python Price

So... I recently got hooked on the very attractive Colt Python and decided I need to have one. I understand they are rare and expensive. What would I be looking at price wise for a 4 or 6 inch shooter. I'm not looking for pristine condition or anything fancy, just a shooter. I read online that they are not delicate, but require maintenance. Is there anything I should be checking for if I see one in person?
    Thanks everyone.

You can expect to pay about $900 - $1100 for a shooter with some wear. The prices would go up from there to about $1800 for a mint or nib Python. Python targets are more and the ones with factory Colt Elliason sights would be a little bit more.

I have actually been following that thread. I was more wondering what the cheaper examples are going for. $1000 seems to be the cheapest they go though.

For me the S & W 586/686 would be a second choice, not a close second but a second choice. I have both and I love both. They both shoot great but a Python is a Python and they are legendary !!!

You didn't say what finish you were looking for, but I think you should be able to get a nice used Python for a little under $1000. It makes a big difference if it has the correct grips, because they cost $150+. My personal preference is for a blued four inch.
