    .357 and .38 interchangeability

i know some revolvers advertise that they shoot .357 mag and 38 special, my question is do ALL .357 revolvers shoot .38?

Yes, all 357mag revolvers will shoot 38 special. If you had a 357Max, you could shoot 38 special, 357 mag, and the maxi out of it. -g

Just make sure it's a revolver and a handgun and you're generally gtg. Wouldn't want to use .38 special in an automatic or say, a lever action rifle.

Why not a lever gun? Marlins and rossi both shoot .38 special.

FTE issues due to the diff in case length. At least that's what I've been told. If it works ok in your weapon then go for it.

I don't have one but the ones I've shot didn't have any problems.

IIRC it was in regards to the Uberti 1873, but it could just be gun store FUD too. I don't own one either.

All lever actions have a minumum and maximum OAL they can handle. I've read that the Uberti and the Browning 92 don't always feed 38's. I've rarely heard of a Marlin 1894c that won't handle both. Some, like the Rossi '92, don't like SWC bullets in either caliber.

FWIW, my Marlin 1894c works with every factory load in either caliber I've tried in it so far.

I've tried 2 rifles in .357, a Rossi and a Winchester '94, and they both did just fine shooting .38 Specials with the exception of wadcutter target ammo, which didn't feed well, but ejected just fine. That flat front just didn't want to make the move from the magazine to the chamber. If you give it a nudge with a finger,it will feed, though.

The Desert Eagle. And you're not s'posed to use .38 special in those either.
