My first ever purchased handgun.. Taurus PT92.. I love it to death.. I had previous background in shooting pellet guns and .22lr at the range and didn't really choose a 9mm for the caliber but I was going to initially get a 1911 govt model and the gun store workers said how they can be a bltch to break in and etc and this was on sale so I got it.. One the best choices I've made.. had it since 2004 and I had 1 FTFeed and that was because i didn't clean it.. Threw some gun lube on the rails and fixed.. With its heavier weight and in 9mm the recoil is very light and it is the most accurate hand gun (that I own) that I shoot. Still tryin to break in the new Glock 22 though -=)

I think (if turners every puts em on sale) I would consider that but I think my next purchase I wana get a wheel gun.. I have a 92 (Taurus) a 1911 and a glock 22 but the only wheel gun i have is an old colt single action army in .22lr .. kinda wanting a .357.. I would even consider trading my taurus 92 or replacing it with a CZ.. They make me

My first handgun was an XD45. I went for the .45, but in hindsight I probably should have bought a 9mm so I could learn the fundamentals with a lower recoiling caliber. I now have an XD9, and that's what I let people use when they have their first range trip!

It took me longer to learn the fundamentals with a .45 than it would have with a 9mm. It just took me the longest time to get over the flinching!

a 22 is the first gun I ever shot and a 9mm is the first gun I ever bought.

The first handgun I ever shot was a 9mm. I think that is a good caliber to start with because it's easy to shoot and cheap.

my first one is a 1911. i believe a 9mm would be best as a first handgun. still kicks, cheap ammo, and low recoil.

First purchase? A shiny new, Browning HP when I was 17 years old prior to the GCA of 1968.

First familiar with and shot regularly? A Smith Model 27 w 5" tube when I was 14.

What would I recommend as a first handgun for a new shooter? Probably a Smith 686.

I was lucky in that I had an early and regulated introduction into the art of handgunning.

                              My first handgun

Was the 92FS Beretta and what I did was just rent guns at Rangemasters in SLO and I didnt even test a 92FS which I had bought because it was Italian made with crimson trace grips. However I wasn't really new to guns but handgun ownership I was. I say test which guns you like in terms of grip and comfort shooting with. With a Caliber that the shooter feels comfortable shooting.

My first gun is a .38 special snub nose my dad gave me. While .22's are fun and easy to shoot, why not just rent one until the shooter can move up to a center-fire so their first gun is also capable of some defensive ability.
