    Which .40 ammo for HD?

I'm looking at the following ammo.

Hornady TAP FPD, 155 Grain XTP Jacketed Hollow Point Bullet
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

Winchester Ranger, 155-Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Bullet
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

Federal Premium Personal Defense, 155 Grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow Point Bullet
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

I've got plenty of cheaper FMJ ammo for target and plinking, but wanted to stock up on some HD ammo.

Anyone have any experience or good info regarding the different HD ammo above?
Or if there is something else I should be looking at please let me know.

I live in an apartment, on the end of the building. So only neighbors above, and to one side.

I know this is a horribly open ended question, but I do appreciate any info you can provide.

    Thanks in advance!

Buy a box of each and see which shoots the best out of the gun you plan to use for HD.

Federal HST is probably the best performing pistol ammo for home defense.

Federal 40 Smith & Wesson ammo for sale at AmmoToGo.com - Don't miss these 50 round packs of 165 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) ammunition in-stock now.

Every gun takes HP ammo a little different. Buy a bunch of each, shoot it through your gun. If there are no problems with feeding on all three come back and ask the same question.

Those are all great choices. What is the make and model? My M&P eats all 3 of those just fine, but I would go with Federal Hydo's. A ton of PD's use them as well.

I'm actually going to be buying my first handgun soon.
I'll be buying the Glock 27. A friend of mine has one, and I've shot it many times. Very comfortable to shoot, and I'm used to shooting it.
I've only shot FMJ through his 27, never any JHPs though.

                Thanks for the info guys!

I am a big fan of Speer Gold Dot due to its reliable feeding in autos.

I believe the FBI .40 S&W load is the Winchester PDX-1 (180 gr.)

I bought the TAP because that's what my local store had.

I haven't shot any of it yet because it's so damn expensive.

Look in the classifieds (do a topic search for "Federal") and you'll find quite a few for sale.

I just bought some .45 +P HST from explorer1046 on THIS THREAD, and he also has 9mm HST available.

All of my HD-use mags are filled with 9mm 147 gr +P HST, or with .45 230gr +P HST.
