    Dan Wesson PM7?

I have the opportunity to buy a PM7 with less than 100 rounds for $1300. Is this a good deal? I know they are discontinued, so I'm apprehensive about that. Also, their warranty is only 5 years whereas Springfield is lifetime.

This will be my 1st 1911 so any input is appreciated. I know that should probably start smaller, but the fact that they are discontinued and that their reputation of building a great gun right out of the box attracts me. Besides, knowing myself, I know that I would get a mil-spec and within a couple of months end up spending more on upgrades so I figure start with one of the best already.

The instructive part is at 0:04 to 0:07 and continues in a few separate parts until the line "guaranteed piece of $%^@".

My PM7 has been 100 percent reliable for a 1911, but the fit and finish wasn't as good as my DW cbob (but that one wouldn't run).

I'd get a nighthawk or Wilson Combat for $2500. It was all good when DW guns were $800 or $900, but I wouldn't get a PM7 for that kind of money. It still needs a trigger job out of the box and that's gonna put you around $1500. I wouldn't want to pay sales tax either- is it used?

It would be $1300 otd and yes it's used. Again it would be my 1st 1911 so I'm completely a noob when it comes to this.

$1300 sounds very high to me for a used gun (less than 100 rounds through it). I think I paid $960 for my CBOB new and I think PM7's were similar in price.

Other than the all stainless look I'm very happy with my CBOB, I just prefer solid blue/black or two tones. Reliability has been 100%, (I lubed and cycled it by hand 500x before shooting it, the slide to frame fit is TIGHT.) Accuracy is also very good.

For that price you can probably find a used Les Baer.

I got my PM7 for $875 a while ago. Good luck seeing those prices again. DW artificially kept the prices low to gain traction IMHO and the prices are in the $1400 range for new ones now. I learned from a DW dealer that they were selling him left over CBOBs from last year for $1400, so he had to hike his prices as well.

I think CZ might be pricing themselves out of the market, but I think people are willing to pay that kind of money for a quality 1911 once they forget that you could get DWs for a thousand dollars a year or two ago. DWs are still fairly priced IMHO for what you are getting for $1400 or so. Yes, sure, for $400 more you could get a Baer, but that is still $400 more that you have to fork out. DWs are now in the same price range as S&Ws PC 1911s and I believe that they are in the same category quality wise.

Regardless, I wouldn't pay $1300 for a used PM7, but not because you could get them last year for a lot less. That ship has has sailed. I wouldn't pay that because unless it is a top end 1911, a used gun is not worth that much money.

I've seen them on the shelves for around $1200
I'd pay $1000 max for a used one.
I got my CBOB for $1400+fees and it's my favorite. So far about 750 rounds; 180 of that being Winchester PDX1. Zero issues. Then again I had the feedramp widened and polished before I ever shot it.

Just to be clear in my post above, I don't think the non custom shop Springer doesn't compare to DW 1911s so the lifetime guarantee would be meaningless to me.

I'm not sure where I stand on the new prices of DW guns. I got mine before the price increase. I don't know if you can buy that much gun for $1300 or less, however, so even if it is more than before it is still probably a fine deal. Does anyone know of a better gun for that much money? Oh yeah, it's used huh? How used? Like new minty, or???

There have been a few Les Baer PII's that have sold used here for $1300 obo. I would consider that a better gun for that much money, especially with similar wear.

That's too high. And they are not being discontinued. DW will make 100 for CA. In 2010 they got a forged frame also, and also made 100 only. Have a dealer order one for you, with YOUR name on the PO, and it will be yours when they make the 2011's. Not sure, but I think the MSRP is around $1,100.

There are much better used guns out there for $1300. Keep looking.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

I've recently seen new PM7s selling for $1075- at a couple of places.

I think DW makes an awesome 1911, but I would not pay that much for a used PM-7. My first 1911 was a CBOB that I bought back in 2008. I love it, but I wouldn't pay what they're asking for them now...forged frame or not. A few months ago I saw a new PM-7 for about the same price you mentioned.

As far as the warranty goes, DW has excellent customer service and if the pistol is going to give you issues it'll probably be within the first couple of years (depending on how much/often you shoot it)

If you really want a PM-7 for your first 1911, I say keep looking for better deals. They are out there if you look hard enough.
