An AR-pistol without handguard and without barrel thread. With a fixed magazine (ie. bullet button + 10 rounds). And brought into the state when someone is moving in would be cool.

Now... that can then probably be sold, right? Even tho it is not on the safe pistol ist....

If it has a fixed magazine it can have a barrel shroud, threaded barrel etc.

(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.

And yes, if imported legally and registered. It could then be sold PPT just like any other non approved handgun.

Hmmm.... but even if registered as a pistol... it can *still* violate SB23 since such lower receiver can be built as a rifle.... yet... if it is registered as a pistol.... is it a pistol or is it a rifle??

One can always use the magazine as a 2nd handgrip.....

No you cannot. Try not to get the issues confused here. The AR pistol will never have a detachable magazine and pistol grip as long as SB23 stands. Go reread the law. A pistol with a detachable magazine outside the pistol grip is an AW.

Any pistol has the capability to violate SB23. Any 1911 or Glock can be converted to an SB23 banned AW. For it to ever be a pistol it has to be a pistol from the start of the manufacturing process, it must be logged as a pistol it's whole life.

Thanks blkA4alb you have been helpfull. I think a Bullet Button would be nice in this situation with 10 rounders of course. If history serves me right the whole classification system (longgun,pistol,aow) came about in the Bonnie & Cylde days. Once a firearm is manufactured its classification can't be changed without alot of paperwork. Of course you would have to live in a free state as well.

This was listed in a different exeption section than person to person. It also did not state that the transaction had to be within the state. I belive federal law mandates firearms crossing state lines must go through an FFL. It also defined infrequent transfers as 5 or less per year.

As for being an AW wouldn't locking the magazine and removing the threaded barrel bring it back into compliance.

I've never seen it written anywhere that you could transfer guns across state lines from a family member without going through an FFL unless it was an inheritance.
