    Hearing Protection

I'm curious to know what kind of hearing protection ya'll wear when you go shooting?

I have a Peltor Ultimate 10 and a Howard Leight Leightning 31 that I alternate. Soon I'm planning on going to the range at least once a week during lunch time to pinch off two or three boxes and I'd like to conserve my hearing. Any recommendations?

I always double up with plugs & muffs. I like Howard Leight SmartFit plugs, but disposable foamies work almost as well. For muffs I like the Peltor Ultimate 10s. When I'm at a rifle match and I want to hear the line commands I use Peltor Tactical 6s.

Pro-Ears Dimension 1 Slims. Haven't used them indoors, but would think I would plug up under them.

Peltor Tactical 6 that I've had for close to five years now. I like them a lot.

I am going to try doubling up the next time I am out, but I may reduce to just some foamies for the 10/22. My wife had purchaced a 30db protector last September, but I found that I got almost 0 report from the 22 and I became disenchanted and moved on to centerfire.

I've been looking at getting a pair of Sordin Supreme Pro hearing protector's. I hear very good things about this brand.

Call me a purist but I've never strayed from the 50 cent ear plugs offered by the Gun Room and the Yolo Sportsman's Association. At one point I even owned a case of nearly 1,000 of them but lost the box when I moved

I have been considering some more sophisticated ear-wear, BUT since 90% of my shooting involves rilfes (which for many reasons plugs are better) I haven't been motivated to invest in hearing protection lately. This might change though because I've been practicing a lot with my Glock 19 recently due to increased crime in my area.

Leightning 31's. They're cheap and have one of the highest db reduction ratings. I also use ear plugs from them also.

I usually just use the cheap disposable foam earplugs. They work well if you make sure you let them expand to conform to your ear.

Sordin's data page - looks like NNR 22. Also their 3+ model, looks like NNR 26.

Leightning does the job for me.

I do the double protection. Plugs and muffs. Or i wear my shure earphones (listen to ipod) and muffs. The earphones also stop 18-20db of sound.
