Hi drider, I agree with your way of thinking with CA gun magazine castrations and all. With that being said, I'm on my way to get a 1911 myself (just need to start the DROS + 10 day wait, all paid already). 1911 is a great gun, the only real complaints about it is that you will pay like 40 cents per factory FMJ ammo, and somewhere between 50-60+ cents per JHP or defensive round. Once I get my Kimber, it will only be fed 8 and 10 round magazines.

For me there is no better handgun made, could careless if its 8, 10, or 18 round capacity. I will always pick a 1911 first. I own many handguns and am not restricted to 10 round mags. When I leave the house, all my plastic fantastic hi-cap guns are in the safe a 1911 with an 8 round mag is on my hip.

Besides the fact it "is" a great gun

            I agree totally

Hence why I prefer the Glock 30
At least I am getting my money's worth

            With the Glock 21

I am getting cheated out of 3 rounds

With the 1911, I can get it "fully loaded"

Everyone's got to have a 1911 in .45 ACP or a .357 magnum revolver, especially in California where the newer double-stack semi-autos have restricted capacity.

The "must have handguns" in my opinion:
                  .45 ACP 1911 / .357 magnum revolver - fun / home-defense handgun
                  9mm/.40 polymer/alloy frame semi-automatic pistol - jack of all trades / carry
                  .22 caliber handgun - practice/plinking

That was one of the reasons I liked the 1911's so much. The not feeling "cheated". I did get some Chip Power 10s for my HD 1911 tho. I say, if we can only have 10 rounds, better be 10 .45 cals.

i like the big holes it makes compared to 9mm

and watching lito lapid filipino movies as a kid, i had to have a 1911... what i didn't know is it does not stop at one.

I don't know I never knew what a 1911 was before I got into firearms but once I knew what it was, I was attracted to it, plain and simple. I have my eyes on the Sig XO. If you guys remember my past threads, etc.

RIA makes a hi cap double stack 14 rd 1911 besides the bunch of other 1911's they make. Now you have a dilemma.

All the cool Tactical Mall Ninjas are dreaming about 10/40 mags for their 1911s right now.
