This is very true. And it will be the same with any active retention device. I have stood in my living room doing nothing but drawing from the holster for hours. Muscle memory is key.

Check out the Glock Combat Holster in the middle. It's factory Glock stuff and CHEAP! Not sure if this is the kind of thing you're looking for, but it is a very effective holster.

if you want owb and like leather: Milt Sparks 55BN and Alessi CQC-S are both great holsters. for "active" camping however, it would be best to have a holster with a retention strap....

Check out the Safariland ALS belt holsters. High quality, very affordable ($35 or so), and the retention system is very intuitive to use.

Blackhawk Serpa if you work well with the retention system as some people do not.

For range/camping/open carry use, I want at least level two retention.

For IWB I use the MTAC. But for range or whatever I use the Serpa. Good awesome holsters.

First off you need to get a good belt. Then you need to try the holster out with a gun, walk around, sit, stand, squat, whatever you need to make sure it feels right to you. My favorite was my Safariland SLS that isn't made anymore. That thing was great, but now I have a Bladetech that while isn't as comfortable it conceals better.
For my money look at Raven concealment. There is another guy who makes almost the same type of holster (Gabe Suarez uses them) and they look very comfortable and don't print much at all.

The level 2 Serpa has both the active release button and a screw adjustment for friction. I've found the latter can be adjusted to provide "just enough" additional that I'm not worried about minor bumps releasing the latch.

Belt selection is paramount as much as the holster. Did a review of the Raven and similar holsters from NTAC, Atomic Dog in my blog ( see sig line). I'd go with Raven or NTAC.

You can have the baddest holster and gun, if your belt is garbage, then the rest of your gear can't live up to it's potential

+1 for the Safariland holsters. I prefer both my ALS and the SLS holsters to my SERPA.

You should also check out Kaluban Cloak Holster made right here in California. Eugene Yap is a great guy to do business with. There is no wait time and the price is very reasonable. I ordered a holster with a light on it for my Glock 19 w/ a Surefire X300. I've used it for 2 shooting classes and it worked great. It also comes in 2 colors. quality is also great.
