I use a little of both. grease the rails and oil in areas where there is friction and grease can't get too.

With the title of "Lube?" the thread had so many more possibilities....... just sayin.

For all my guns (most are polymer), I use Hoppe's #9 for general cleaning if the guns are pretty dirty. For general cleaning, lubrication and wiping down my guns I use Breakfree CLP. I usually lubricate the slide rails and lubrication points on my guns with a few drops of either Breakfree or Militec 1 synthetic lubricant. I haven't ever had any problems using these cleaners/lubricants and function has been great on all my firearms.

When it comes to the rails I always go with Slide Glide especially when talking the 1911 or any full railed pistol with all the rail contact. Much better than the thinner oils.

Tetra Gun Grease for just about everything presently, as it just works so well for me. I am also experimenting with using M7Pro "LPX" ... seems to work great so far.

Formerly used Gun Butter, but for the last couple years I've used Militec-1 exclusively. Awesome stuff.

I don't own any plastic pistols.
