For those that own Glock 19/23/other compact frames

Just a heads up for owners. There is a new slide stop spring out for these guns. The old ones were very skinny and prone to breakage. I broke 2 over a span of only like 5-8K rounds. The folks at Glock finally upgraded the spring to make it much beefier. I think new G19/23s come with these springs but my 3rd gen FLPXXX series did not. Though as a testament to the design, the gun will still function as long as the gun remains cocked. Once dry fired the slide can fall off the gun if the spring is broken. I included pics showing the old spring, the new spring, and a side by side comparo. I got my new one from Glockmeister but I think you can get one free from Glock's plant in Georgia if you ask.

Glad to know this BigAl, I'll contact Glock and see if I can get 3 of these for my 26 and two 19s, all 2nd gen. I may never put more than a few K through each one but I want the newer part in there. Off to Glocktalk to lookup R&R.

It's not really a "slide stop spring," more like a "takedown spring"?

Just curious - looking for clarity. Based on the pics (thanks), it appears to be the takedown spring.

Yeah as you can see there is no taper on the new spring. The old ones would usually break without warning at either end where the spring would have the taper.

I don't doubt BigAL anymore since he taught me how to remove impossible lead deposits from one of my barrels!!
