It keeps you from having the ability to shoot if you can't reload in time.

it's there to make the Ruger MkIII series the most annoying(not too hard but confusing) firearms to re-assemble in history

To irritate Safety Officers at IDPA matches.

Unload and show clear…slide down…Insert empty mag?...hammer down

I was at one match where the shooter mistakenly put the loaded mag back in the gun, oops. Neither he nor the SO caught the mistake until he dropped the hammer. Needless to say he went home early that day.
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

          It's a "Mommy feature".

It serves no useful function but it makes your Mommy feel better knowing that you have it on your gun.

I thought it was to try to correct the problem of people trying to shoot their guns when they forgot to put the magazine in and it is thus unloaded, by mistake.

                This is a test.....

It is another safety feature for us to work on determining the best way to disable it.....

It will "supposedly" will protect the idiots who assume there's never a round in the chamber if the mag is out.

It will also "supposedly" be welcomed by LEOs because, should someone grab their gun, if they can eject the mag they can let the perp have the gun while they pull out their flashlight and bludgeon them.

                    It is several things:

                    1. Supposedly a safety device.

                    2. An excuse to disregard firearms safety in place of a mechanical device that may fail.

                    3. The State's way of severely limiting the availability of new firearms in California.

WTF? Silliest thing I've ever heard. If someone grabs a LEO's gun, he should be perforated quickly.

Indeed. That's just the idiocy that one of the firearms instructors over at Iron Sights passed on to me for a laugh when we were discussing it. Apparently some LEO actually thought it was a good thing in a duty weapon. *boggle*
