Depending on where it's at, and what dash it is (i.e. 66, 66-1,-2 etc), $450 and up from what I've seen. From the description of the sights it would have to be at least -1. Barrel pinned and cylinder recessed?

^ Yeah 4-5 bills is about right. There is a Sticky here for checking out revolvers. If its both pinned barrel and recessed cylinder then its an early one. The later ones first did away with the recessed cylinder then they started pressing the barrels instead of pinning. Then they went with the tear drop cylinder release and finally the lock !! You'll love the 66 regardless of which one.Wanna learn to shoot SKEET? I am here to introduce all shooters to the sport of SKEET Shooting ....

The curse of the internal lock
A certain percentage of S&W revolver buyers do not like the internal lock because they fear it might spontaneously engage during use, disabling the gun until the key can be found. They also dislike the fact that S&W installed the lock in an apparent gesture to anti gun politicians. This makes the prelock revolvers more valuable to those buyers.Comment

Look under the foam. The lock hype is a bit like the "Obama is gonna ban all guns" hype. Possible but the chances are very low. The few incidents that happened with early post lock guns that folks shot max power loads through repeatedly have been hyped and posted over and over again as "my brother in laws best friends uncle saw it happen" type stories.Last edited by nn3453; 07-13-2010, 9:21 AM.sigpicComment

Might be more than the lock itself that's turning off some people to S&W with integral lock.
S&W was bought out by the Safe-T-Hammer Corp in 2000. They had a patent on the lock. They didn't put the lock into the S&W line right away.
IMO some people [including me] don't like the new S&W as they feel that they are not the same company they once were.
I have a new 637-2 with the lock -- now the M37 never had a very wide hammer spur; but it is even narrower to accommodate the lock "flag." I don't like it; and I am going to sell it.
The only S&W's I will acquire now are from pre 1980 (approx) when they had pinned barrels.
This is all personal preference on my part; and I'm sure there are many people who are very happy with the new S&Ws.Life Member NRA and 2A Foundation.
