Sistemas are good as any of my older Colts. I used to shoot it in it's original configuration but due to the ammo cost, it's now set up as a base gun for my Ace conversion.

        C&R longun

I apologize for the hijack. I thought the Curio and relic exempted before 1899. When I bought it in 1997, my Mauser Model 96 Swede, 1900 stamped on the crest, was not exempt. Plain and simple. Not a rolling 100 years, and certainly not 50 years. If thats the case, all of my Mausers are exempt. I don't even own a longgun newer than fifty years old. 1947 Model 24/47, so it's exempt ?? Sure about that ???

Pre 1899 is Antique and for the purpose of transfer are considered non-firearms --- i.e. -- no FFL required, no DROS, may be sold across state lines.

Federal law makes a gun that is 50 years or older automatically a Curios and Relic (C&R). [ATF adds by memorandum: ...and in original configuration]

The state of California, under Penal Code 12078(t)(2) allows long-guns that are BOTH C&R and 50 years old or greater to be transferred among CA state residents without using a dealer. This may be done on an "occasional" [undefined] basis. Done with frequency [undefined] is dealing. We may lose this if the rifle registration Bill becomes law -- I don't have the number of that Bill. [That same long-gun, if sold by a CA dealer requires DROS, 4473, NICS and 10 day wait.]

All handgun transfers for non-Antique (post 1898) must be conducted through a CA dealer with a DROS.

The 10 day wait for a C&R gun (hand or long) may be waived if the transferee has both a C&R (FFL-03) license and a CA COE.

Yeah you are confusing Antique classification with C&R. Both involve "old" guns but they are very different classifications.

Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I have a Ballester-Molina I purchased from K-Mart right after I got out the Army. Paid $45.00 for it. Took it to F. Bob Chow in SF to have him work his magic on it. He ran the pistol through its paces and told me it was one of the sweetest surplus .45's he had ever fired. Advised me that the pistol wanted for nothing, but I had him customize it anyhow. It is still my go-to .45 ACP.

They look like an M1911, but they only have a couple of interchangeable parts with a M1911. They are still good guns. Just don't buy it expecting it to be a M1911.

The Argentine Sistema M1927 pistols are indeed 100% interchangeable with M1911 pistols.
