✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

Curio and Relic. It's a special classification to a fire arm that means their value is due to being historically significant in some way. C&R guns are exempt from the official roster.

And also includes any handgun or long gun over 50 years old.

Nice try though ... Being exempt from the roster of "safe" handguns is one thing, but being exempt from all rules is another

C&R long guns that are more than 50 years old are (at least the last time I checked) exempt from having to be transferred through an FFL, though.

Sistemas are usually pretty nice on the outside, but some of them must have been ridden hard with corrosive ammo and put away wet, 'cuz the absolute worst bore I've ever seen was in one. Made a sewer pipe look nice and the thing shot 12" groups at 10yds! Nice thing is that barrels are easy to replace!

                        Seems appropriate.

Yes, the Argentine m1927s (at least the older ones) are C&R and thus exempt from the California roster.

I’ve observed several that have been in good to very good mechanical condition with some cosmetic blemishes.

Yeah - C&R in most cases. There's 2 types: The ones built under Colt contract (I believe all the Sistemas, but may be wrong there) and the ones built as Colt "knock-offs" (which I think are the Ballester Molina? - but may be wrong on the name).

The ones built under Colt contract are older.

Though visually similar, the Ballester-Molina is not a Colt-Browning pistol.

The so-called Sistemas were manufactured in Argentina, but many genuine Colt pistols were also imported.
