OK. I'll bite...Originally posted by goseWhy waste money on that? Its a misbreed with poor QA.
You've got me really interested now. Granted, whenever something new comes out, you're almost always going to have QC issues. That's just a fact of life, regardless of whether we're talking about guns, cars, or widgets.
gose:
Please enlighten us with what you know about the quality issues of the X-5.
Thanks in advance.Comment

I had a chance to shoot an X-5 last year. That is one accurate shooting pistol. We had no failures of any kind. Several of us fired the pistol for the first time and we were all very accurate with it. If it were'nt for the GINORMOUS amount of greenbacks required, it would be #1 on my list.**********************************************

So.. does it take older P226 magazines? I wonder if our pre-2000 stash of 226 mags can be converted with that whiz-bang base plate to become a 19 round cap X-five mag.. now that would be truly interesting.... a current pistol which we already have hi-caps for....

heh, well, Ive been in this discussion a few times before, but lets do it againOriginally posted by BigALDont you love it when they say gun XYZ sucks but never elaborate/ give evidence on why they think that.

* I dont like the ergonomics, the decocker is exactly where i keep my thumb, keeping it from locking open after the last shot. The safety is not very well placed for my grip either.
* Its as high as a house, which is bad if you want to shoot "fast. Normally you would like the barrel to be as low as possible.
* Its expensive, if you want a plinker you get A LOT of plinker for $2000+ and if you want a target gun you can get a nice 1911 or a used sig 210 for that money.
* What discipline was it made for? Maybe if they added a few rounds in .40 it would be ok in IPSC standard, but now it feels like its something SIG threw together becasue the needed a single action pistol.
* Its too heavy. Weight helps in reducing recoil, but this gun is just too heavy.
* I think 50% of the guns Ive seen have had ejection problems due to a faulty extractor, replacing the extrator solved the issue though (QA?)
* The trigger and the trigger system is very nice from the start, but Ive seen several guns being sent back because it has deteriorated after a few thousand rounds.
* Some of the guns Ive seen have also had FTE and FTF problems that needed some extra tuning to solve.
It quickly gained some following around Europe when it came, but some of the shooters here stopped using it or are looking for other options.
Accuracy-wise its ok, but still not as good as a well-tuned 1911 or any of my sig 210s.
Once the sort out the issues, it might be a nice gun for YOU, if YOU feel comfortable with it.With Oden on our side.Comment

I think you mean slide release, not decocker. But thanks for comming back to explain your thoughts.Originally posted by goseheh, well, Ive been in this discussion a few times before, but lets do it again

Of courseOriginally posted by BigALI think you mean slide release, not decocker. But thanks for comming back to explain your thoughts.
Met one of the Sig Custom workshop guys a few months back and he had made a new safety that was much better than the original. So there is hope
But even if I wont buy it, I still like to test

QA means that the product met specifications and functioned properly when it left Sauer Waffen in Germany then SiGARMS in the US. QA is not designing, i.e. ergonomics. You can personally hate a product but to call it a waste of $$$ is a broad statement. Let those that want it, have the opportunity to get it. I am content with a plain P226 but others like the extras in life. If you owned one and it malfunctioned I would give your statment more credibility. Since you don't I'll chalk it up to an opinion, not fact.Sauers and Glocks
