Very true... be prepared to pay thru the nose with PPT. If the XDm in 9mm was going for 1200 on the private sales forum, this one will probably be upwards of 1400 - 1500. An HK45 recently popped up in that forum with a ~1400-1500 price tag...someone PMd an "I'll take it" within 5 minutes after the initial ad was posted.

It must be nice to have that much disposable moola laying around!

    Damn good looking XDm though...

Alledgedly, the m-series pistols were designed to branch into competition use vs. duty use. They have increased magazine capacity compared to the original XD line. My buddies XD(m) 9mm comes with a 19-round flush-fit magazine. The .45 will hold 13+1 rounds. The mags aren't compatible, as the (m) mags are wider and thicker (for strength).

The frame has some additional recesses to make reaching the controls easier. The trigger guard is undercut for a higher grip, and is flat.

You no longer need to pull the trigger for take-down. The trigger is supposed to be better in every aspect than the XD, but I've never fired an XD so I couldn't say.

Of course, you can't forget the match barrel.

I prefer the feel of my Kimber, but his 9mm is a really accurate weapon.
          This is my sig line.

The folks on XDtalk has shown that the XD45 10 round mags will fit and work just fine in the XD(m).45 so at least you can use those if you ever PPT the gun. With the 9mm or .40 XD(m) handguns, you need to modify the mags to 10 rounds to make them CA compliant.

If they ever come out with a 3.8 version, it's something I may look into to do an intrafamily transfer on. Otherwise, I like shooting the G21 SF and I already have some pre-ban mags for the G21.

I like the looks of the XDm 45 ACP in all black. It has the same capacity as the XD so I'm not loosing sleep over it not being available in CA.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

Springfield Armory already shipped XDm's to California. They are the anti-gunners in Sacramento called (X)tremely (D)umb (m)orons. You don't need to go to a free state to find one. Look at Saldana, De Leon, Schwarz, etc. etc..

Actually M&P fanboy.... and it is well known that the XD is not a big time pistol... Bad Ergos, Sight over bore issue, and it's really top heavy which makes it very unbalanced leading to inaccuracy. They tried to fix the accuracy problem by upgrading the barrel, but it has a lot to do with the design and less to do with the barrel.

Pray tell, what is a "sight over bore issue?"

It's center of sights to center of bore.

Checkout Magpuls handgun DVD and you will learn why the XD is not an option.
