Cant pull back on glock slide, spring too strong

I have a female friend who is unable to pull back the slide of her Glock 19 she is not strong enough. Is there a spring we can change out too make it easier for her but still keep the gun working safely enough to use for HD and Security work?

maybe she shouldn't be handling guns then? how did she obtain the gun anyways? don't they have you perform proper gun safety at the time of purchase/pick-up? (which would require minimal loading and minimal unloading/locking slide to the rear)

She was somehow able to do it durring the safety check however, I have been trying to get her to pull and lock the slide back how ever she can not do that now.

Any ideas for another spring and maybe some exercises I can get her to do? :-p

Yeah, if she can't operate it, find another pistol. Perhaps a revolver? Or one of those berettas with a tip-up barrel.

*edit* that isn't meant to be snarky or snide. Seriously, if she can't operate it, you shouldn't have to change out the stuff to make it work subpar.

          Dude!

Get her a revolver. That Glock is simply a mistake with an accident waiting to happen.

Spring too strong? Throw gun away...

Have her hold the slide in her left hand, overhand method

Grasp the gun in the right hand and "push" the gun away from her keeping the slide stationary.

Pushing the grip away, is way easier then pulling the slide back

At the bare minimal, remove the magazine and THEN have her pull the slide back. Then insert magazine and drop slide.

Its the alternative I found for women friends I take shooting with my Glock 19.

^ Lubing shouldn't affect spring stiffness. I'm with everyone else, if she can't operate every part of that gun, she shouldn't be using it. +1 for a revolver.

Give her the link to this site:

and have her read this page first:

Exactly. This is how instructors teach females and really most other people to operate the slide. +1

+1 What they said. She's not trying to do it by pulling with 2 fingers is she?

She can fire it perfectly when I pull the slide back, if no one can help with a lighter spring can anyone suggest ideas on how to build up muscle for pulling the slide back, yes she does use the left hand over the slide not 2 fingers.
She just has no arm muscle.

I don't want her to have a revolver either, Sometimes you might need more then 6 shots and reloading a mag is quicker then ejecting the cases and using a speed loader when you could have a 10 round mag in a semi-auto pistol IMO.

I was thinking specifically the rails. Though a clean spring will behave differently than a dirty one, I can't see that making the difference. Of course, she could also exercise...

+1 on the revolver as well.
