Lately.....I ashamed to admit.........I've been thinking of buying a Glock. I've never really muched liked them...mostly for the fact that everyone seems to either love them or hate them and I think my Glock lover friends tried to push them on me too hard. I've shot a couple of them and thought they were OK. I bought an XD9 just to try and not buy a Glock...I really like the XD9 but there's just something about a G17 that's calling out to me. So do I do it? Or just let this phase try and blow over?

G17....?
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I used to hate glocks. I wouldn't be able to hit anything. I have always been fond of their reliability and looks. I started renting out the glock 17 every time i went to my local range. I went once a week and after about the 3rd week, I was in love. I now own a glock 17 and would like to buy a glock 19 in OD green. I own plenty of HKs, but my glock is what stays outta the safe, by my bed. Over two thousand rounds, all reloads, not one jam, ftf or any other problem. My thoughts are, YES! BUY ONE!"Calguns, where we show our opponents our hand, tell them our next move and expect to win."Comment

Glocks run, they're durable, reliable, and super easy to take apart and modify. As much as I don't want to admit it too, the Glock force certainly is strong.
Aftermarket support for this platform is insane, and for the most part, a lot of it is just "drop in."Comment

go to a local gun range and see if they have the G17 to rent, shoot it first and see if you like it, and if you do. heck screw what other ppl say, and buy it. hehe. i'm not a glock fan but if i like how the gun shoot, i'll probably buy it. glocks are known to take ton of abuse and still function on a dime. so go rent it first. The stuff that goes boom.Comment

I've resigned myself to the understanding that my next 9mm will be a g17
I want to hate it, but its one of the few 9mm handguns that I can shoot the pizz out of and not feel bad.
pluss I figured out that some of the mags I had from way back are actually G18 mags (which work in the 17) so I'm kinda stoked about that whole thing.
if you want one, get one, I wouldn't sell off the other ones tho, you may feel nostalgic.Comment

I had a G17 for a while, and sold it. I just didn't care for it - it didn't fit my hand well and was uncomfortable to shoot.
I don't sell too many guns, but that one just wasn't making it for me. I much prefer my CZ75b and 1911, and even shoot my Ruger P95 much better than the G17.sigpic

They're ugly, triggers reset quick but otherwise suck, sights are nothing to write home about, and they sit in your hand at a weird angle. Basicly I don't think much about them.
In a nut shell why would you buy a Glock with more choices out there?
I don't know either that's why I own 3.I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.
When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.Comment

I guess you can figure out where I stand on this issue, hence the user name. I bought my G17 2nd gen. years ago as a refurbished sale. Did'nt know much about Glocks then; bought it because it was for a decent price and was cheaper than the Beretta 92F that I originally wanted. I put about 200 rounds through then set it in the safe for about 3 years. About that time I got started shooting IDPA and was the only pistol that I had any gear for. Then the disdain that I had for it all these years came to screeching halt when I started to develop a fondness for the pistol, it just seem to feel right in my hands. On the drawstroke it was easy to index on the target and ran flawlessly. To this day after thousands of rounds I have yet disassemble the magazines to clean them even after being dropped in the mud during those rainy IDPA matches. They've always ran flawlessly.
I also shoot a G35 but seem to like the feel of the G17 because it does not have the finger grooves.
Its one of those things you can't explain, you will either love or hate it.Comment
