While collecting guns is fun, shooting it is more fun. Set yourself an attainable goal, in increments in different contexts such as accuracy, speed, ease of magazine reloads, and consistency. Then once each is reached to your acceptable level, combine them all into one.

What handguns do you currently own, and which are you planning to really become proficient with?

Yes, thanks for the comments you got my idea of what I'm trying to say, I want to master the guns I have now and spend the money on ammunition instead of a new gun! Since turning of age to buy a handgun, i bought a .22LR pistol, .357 5-shot, 9mm pistol, .45 acp pistol, 12 gauge and it is going to stop. Not in a negative way but I realized that I have a reasonable size family already and I need to provide for each of them and feed some bullets through their chambers and barrels to get to know them a little bit better, before I go and have another one. Most importantly, it is true once you stick with one type of make firearm, such as Glock you really do get use to it. The grip the trigger control, if you all remember I was thinking about buying a 1911, sig glad I didn't yet. Above all heading out to the range all I'm worring about is having fun and heading the paper.

I think someone asked me about hitting 5-6" groups at 25 yds, 35 yds, I'm a realistic person, all I want to do is be able to hit center mass at those distances not worried about grouping.

It is perfectly okay to buy firearms you simply enjoy shooting or owning. I recommend you get proficient with the one or two you may use to protect life, but it's okay to have fun too.

It's a hobby. Some people buy RC planes, swords, whatever. Just buy what you want if you can afford it.

That is my issue! None of my friends own a firearm except for myself. I would like to shoot with someone that has their own toys so we can compare and contrast haha. Maybe we should shoot sometime and solve that problem!

Same problem here. I end up having to be the "gun nut" providing all the guns and $150 in ammo for everyone to burn through any time I want to go out shooting with some other people too, instead of just by myself. Like drinking, shooting guns by yourself just isn't as fun compared to if some other people are with you

Hi al it. So to say master the guns I have before staring on a new gun.

The good thing about guns is that they hold their values well. So whatever you put into them, you can get most/all of it back.

Knowing how to use a certain pistol should mean knowing how to use all pistols. I fail to see why somebody can only shoot well w/ 1 pistol. I.e. you can safely buy many guns and still become a good shooter.

For example, I have a Saiga 12 in gun jail until next week before I can pick her up... but I just realized the other day I am going to need a more compact and lighter rifle to plink with on an upcoming backpacking trip, cause my Saiga 7.62x39 is up to 11 LBs with its new Eotech 553.... So I'm in serious danger of DROS'ing something like a Kel-Tec SU-16CA when I pick up the Saiga 12 next week

um...get new friends? seriously, tho, friends that i bring to the range may have guns, but most don't. at the end of the range session, i find more money in my car and house (that they leave for range fees/ammo) than i actually spent.

With guns is the key here. Ive been taking friends without guns.. Wish they knew how much of my change they were shooting out the end of that barrel!
