Like them both SA have steel MSH and Kimber have the cheese Polmer MSH. Then you will found the Kimber slide to frame fit tighter and the SA will rock a little bit with no firing pin safty on the SA. Is like compare a Ford and a Chev.Comment

Like other posts, hard to tell one from the other and you can't convince or convert a follower of one to go over to the other side.
I for one am a hard-core Springfield supporter. I have 6 1911s in both 9mm and .45acp. I like the fact that the Springfields do not have a firing pin block ala the series 80 Colts or Kimbers. I think they have a better trigger out of the box, but that's just my opinion and experience.
Either brand will have bad examples for sure. I refer to those as "Monday or Friday guns". Meaning who ever built them was recovering from or thinking about the weekend.
I love my Springers!

1911s are true american pistols and so are kimbers, springers arent! half is from brazil, why wouldnt you want an american 1911? i dont care how good a 1911 shoots but it better be from here hahaI wanted to invent an engine that could run for ever. I could have developed a new train, had I stayed in the railway. It would have looked like the AK-47 though. MIKHAIL KALASHNIKOVComment

One word - GLOCK jk
I would vote Kimber simply because I am a Kimber guy. I have a stainless TLE II RL, one of the most beautiful guns I have ever seen. Never had any problem with it from day one. The fit is tight as a match gun. Some complain about Kimber's customer service. I sent mine back for sight adjustment (BTW, if you do buy a Kimber, don't try to adjust the sight yourself. You will break the gun and all the tools you use). The gentleman who answered the phone was nice and knew what he was talking about. And they seemed to have a good tracking system and were able to provide me with all the what, when and where details, when I called them a week later. It came back in 2 weeks, nicely wrapped and packaged, adjusted to my spec. I was impressed. Will buy a Kimber again.Comment

I have owned 1911s by Kimber, Sprinfield Armory and Colt. There's nothing wrong with any of them, but for quality, accuracy, and reliability I would go with a Kimber. BTW, I still have my first Kimber and a Colt 80 series Commander. In essence we're all freedom fighters, ready to defend the freedoms granted us by our forefathers.
