Ruger SR9

The "plus" column includes very slim comfortable grip, accuracy, reliability, good price, very consistent trigger reset, full CA compliance.
The "minus" column includes an initially gritty trigger (in some cases, and it smooths out nicely within 100 rounds or so), a slightly heavier pull than Glock and XDs, not so many accessories available yet. The magazine disconnect works in an odd way ... easy to remove if you like.|

I don't pretend to be an "authority." I'm just a guy who trains a lot, shoots a lot and has a perspective.

I hear you guys i really like the way it feels in the hand.. So its either going to be the G17 in rtf or the SR9. The price for the SR9 is really nice also!!!!Comment

I don't have my manual with me but as I recall dry fire with out a mag is supposed to be a no-no.
Aside from that it feels good and shoots good. Mags will also fit the SR9C if you happen to want one in the future.
I never could get used to a Glock.Last edited by Silverback; 05-18-2010, 9:00 PM.Comment

I really like the feel of the sr9, I just have an issue with ruger's issues that seem to plague them when they first introduce something combined with how long it usually takes them to get the bugs out of a setup. That being said I would still like to get one, but I put them further down my list to give more time for it to establish itselfOriginally posted by Neil McCauleyAre you actually suppost to "taste" wood?

My SR9 is a couple months old now and I have 750 rounds through it. Not one hiccup of any kind and I've thrown a bunch of different ammo at it too. I love the gun!!! It fits me really well and just feels natural in my hand.
Like ZT says, there aren't many minuses with the SR9. My trigger wasn't gritty like some, but it does have a heavier pull which I don't mind now. If you don't like the stock trigger, you can swap it for a Ghost trigger.
If you do buy one, give it a good cleaning before shooting it. Mine had a TON of packing grease all over it.
If you can, shot the guns you have on your short list to get a true feel for the one that fits and feels best to you.Comment

Now that it's been out a couple years, Ruger seems to have worked out the issues. At least from what I've read researching a SR9 purchase myself. That being said, I have yet to shoot one (anyone want to meet me at a local range??).I really like the feel of the sr9, I just have an issue with ruger's issues that seem to plague them when they first introduce something combined with how long it usually takes them to get the bugs out of a setup. I will probably buy the compact when I get there, but unfortunately for the ruger and my wallet, but fortunately for me..... many guns made it onto my prioritized list of "needs" lolOriginally posted by Neil McCauleyAre you actually suppost to "taste" wood?

So the SR9c is on the roster. Right? Im yet to see one at any store. That would be a nice one also. For those who aren't to crazy about the Glock 17, have you guys picked up a RTF? I have a G22 in RTF to me it feels great.IMO.Comment
