There are Sigs that have broken 300,000 rounds and still function. They are in the possession of the Navy SEALs armory down in San Diego. They looks like they've lived in a blender for their whole life and rattle like Boggle cube.

+1 for the seller being honest...not your run on the mill '....ONLY 200/300 rounds through it!'

Frame, slide, barrel have plenty of life left, might want to get it looked over Sig armorer (since there are no pictures, no way to tell you any other than being super safe). But it would be a deal at around the $400 dollar range (considering a big vendor like buds has it for $520 when in stock). Also, how old is it? Is it German manufactur? Stuff like that might add a few bucks here and there.

That sealed the deal for me. I went out and bought one within the week. It has been an awesome shooter with never a malfunction and remains to be the most accurate auto I own.

        IMHO, 2000 rounds isn't even a full break in for a 226.
I have 2k rounds in mine and it runs like a dream. When my buddies & I hit the range, they would rather fire my 226 than their own brand new guns. I would never sell that gun. In fact I'm thinking about getting my getting another one.

Are these 50,000 rounds sigs the old style with the folded slide, or the new style?

I have a new style P226R and I'm still freaked out by this guy:
I’ve had a handful of e-mails asking how to tell if a used Sig is still in good shape or not. After writing the same e-mail over and over for the last five years, I figured it was time to post my thoughts on what to look at when you’re going to purchase a used…

Mine is a .40 police trade in and I bought it online sight unseen as I'm sure many of us do. Wouldn't you know it, the aluminum rails are fully 'silver' in appearance.

I've lubed it up, but now I think something like an XD or Glock would hold up better over time.

Another article by the same guy, sounds like you really have to baby a sig to keep it running:
This article is about what I personally recommend for lubricating Sig Sauer pistols. I have different methods for lubricating other guns, but this article is focused on the Sig Sauer pistols. My philosophy: If metal rubs metal, it needs grease between the parts. We lubricate guns simply to allow the parts that rub on one…

2k rounds is no problem. have had my 226 for 3 years and put about 10k down range. you should send it back to sig for their service plan for $130. they recommend once a year or every 5k round. thanks for the reminder, i am way overdue!

there is absolutely no reason to spend 130$ every 5K rounds or every year to send your gun to sig..maybe every 10-12 years for new night sights and a overhaul. Just replace your recoil spring every 5-10K rounds, and keep your gun lubed all the time w/ weaponshield or militec. Sigs will last very well.

                2k isn't much...

I personally love police trade ins... a lot of cops aren't into guns and other then their re-quals the only thing the gun see's is holster wear. I've seen some police trade in's that were damn near brand new, but due to the holster wear on the slide the gun looked like it had been a rental and subjected to abuse for 10-15 years.

a P226 with 2000 rounds behind it should have one sweet trigger pull....

I've put almost 3k through my new P226 and it's shooting better now than when I first got it. The only thing you might want to do is replace the springs.

How does the life expectancy of a alloy sig frame compare to a all steel frame?
