HOW GOOD IS A SIG p226 THAT HAS 2000 ROUNDS.

    Hello,

I do not know too much about SIG.

I was told once that p226 can go up to 20k rounds without any problems.

What do you think that is worth a P226 that has around 2k?

Is it like nothing? Is it half-dead?What do you think?

    Thanks.

Holy mackerel, 2000 rounds!? I'll give you $50 for it, and that's generous!

    (It's fine.)

Provided the 2k rounds are typical target rounds, there are no odd wear spots or other physical damage, it should be just fine. You might want to invest in a new slide spring.

Value? What are they going for on GB?

If it's an older pistol, remember that the hi-cap magazines can't be legally transferred.

          thanks for input.

          I appreciate it very much.

Regarding of the HCMags I got a lot of help from this thread:

I was thinking of something like 75% value. But only if the more experienced people would say that 2k is ok. I see that you are saying that is ok so I think that I would go for it.

Is 75% too much or too little?

By the way: How many rounds can a SIG take without being affected too much?

          thanks.

I wouldn't know. All my guns have exactly 200 rounds through them.

P.S. It will be fine. It is broken in and ready to go.

Well you could ask him to cut you a deal on and then sent it to SIG to be refurbished. Honestly I think your fine.

OP you have a very odd way of posting. It's as if you're writing down exactly what you're thinking at that point in time with very little organization.

                  Oawww,

I never thought about sending it to SIG.

Does anyone have an idea how much is SIG charging?

As long as its not a P226 with serial # U150XXX or below, 2k rounds is like 2k miles on a car. Almost new.

2K rounds out of a P226 is nothing, provided it's well cared for. Running the rails dry on a alloy SIG frame can destroy the gun pretty quickly. As long as the rails look fine without any noticeable gouging or stripped anodizing the gun is GTG.

It's just broken in. 2k rounds is like 40 rounds a week for 1 year. I have no idea how many rounds have been shot in my P226 - it's about 15 years old, is my main shooter, and is in great condition. It is tight, smooth and accurate. If I had to guess, it would be close to 10K, maybe more. Mosly reloads and I load some fairly hot.

Sigs are like any quality combat pistol, they will take a lot of use and still be great guns. I have one of the West German Sig P-6's that has a 1978 date on it that shoots very fine and accurate (and it is one of the steep ramped versions that sometimes have feeding problems). It looks a little rough from lots of riding around in a holster, but is a workhorse.

As for value, a lot of other condition issues come into play too, that's where negotiation skills come in handy. Just don't let 2K rounds kill an otherwise sweet deal.

Back in 1994, there was a shooting test done by one of the gun publications in which they ran 10,000 rounds through various pistols. The only thing I remember about the test was that the authors concluded that the 226 actually gained accuracy during the test.

That sealed the deal for me. I went out and bought one within the week. It has been an awesome shooter with never a malfunction and remains to be the most accurate auto I own.

                              IMHO, 2000 rounds isn't even a full break in for a 226.
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...
