As always, start high and be willing to come down.
Personally, I would list it at $1,500.00 and drop the price about $100 per week until you get a satisfactory offer. Allow yourself up to a month to find a buyer.
If you do not have a buyer in a month, you should pull it off the market or do a 'Fire Sale' (lower the price substantially).
The CalGuns marketplace generally brings decent prices and the buyers are usually in CA.
PLEASE try to keep this gun in CA. We have a hard enough time finding decent guns without losing what we have to other states.
    Good luck.

IMO: This gun is worth $1200.00 in CA.
If you had the original matching box it would be worth $1400.00
In states where there is no roster this is a $1000.00 gun
List it in the marketplace and I expect it will sell quickly at $1200.00, may get more if you find the right buyer.

Just my thought, but it strikes me as a $1,000.00 gun in CA. I'm sure a higher price tag could be put on it if the seller isn't in a hurry, but I just don't see the stainless made in 80's versions as having the qualities valued by Python buyers - other than the rollmark on the barrel.
That's your opinion. I might agree if you're talking about the matte finish, but the bright, polished stainless finish is one of the best out of the Colt factory and is far superior to the nickel finish. I can see many preferring the Blue, but I don't see many preferring the nickel over the stainless.

You obviously don't know the Python market...

A beat up python seems to be running about $750, with some variation for finish and grips (especially whether they are original or not). Very high quality guns seem to be selling for about $1000 to $1200 from what I've seen.

I'm glad that I kept the box and original paperwork on my 6 inch blued Python...I never thought that it would add that much, but kept it for sentimental reasons. It was my first firearm purchase.

I just wish that mine hadn't come with the horrific hogue grips. Does anyone know where to get original wood grips for the Python? I've always tried to stay away from eBay (from getting defrauded as well as the auction fever that occurs there). I'd really like to get it back to the classic look.

OK - but the grips are $900.00 extra.

You guys are high. List it on GB to see what it will fetch, which should be well north of that. (Or just search for closed auctions on SS pythons.)

Also, you can also try a gunshow, which tends to have higher prices.

Calguns tends to be fairly low in terms of sale prices.

On a side note, I just called Colt's Custom Shop. They have the "elite" grips at $60-$65 shipped for those looking for an authentic wood grip to replace the pachymar grips that came with later years.

They also stated that they were seriously considering a gun of the original wood grips from the earlier years. That might be worth keeping an eye open for these should they go ahead with production.

For those interested, the number is 1-800-962-COLT. I think that the choice was number 1 or 2 for "customer service". They have only one or two more in stock currently, but get the elites "from time to time". They didn't have an option to make a call back or email about the possible production run of original series grips, however.

My opinion mirrors this almost exactly down to price. In today's market I can see a blued or nickel python fetching $1200- $1400 in similar condition, but not a stainless Python. I was going to say $1100 for this stainless Python with manual, but it'll realistically sell for around $1000 if listed on Calguns.

                    JMO, YMMV, FWIW..

That seems fair. That's about what the grips are going for on eBay. The box should be about another $600...

I remeber a few that came into the gun shop that I used to work for and they all sold for over 1,000.00.
