Why .357 sig?

Thanks for the .357 Sig info, kinda always wondered about this round.

I hate to be a 'use the search button' guy, but holycow there have been a zillion of these 357 sig threads.

The search requires more then 3 characters. So a search for 357 sig reveals absolutely nothing.

The .357 SIG is no where near the .357 Mag ballistically. More like a 9mm +P++.

It does have a snappier recoil and more muzzle blast than the .40, at least in a P229....

Sig Sauer took that, found they could up the ballistics on a 9mm to .357 magnum ballistics, and thus the .357 Sig was born.

Correct, but only for .357 bullets on the light (for .357 mag) side.

If it can get 1600 fps or so from 158gr bullet, I'm buyin'!

The goal was to duplicate the 125gr factory load. If you want to go other ways, then you need to go other loads. And maybe go to longer barrels too. Then you get away from the original concept. It delivers what it was designed around, nothing more.

Dont forget the 357 maximum in a dan wesson or ruger blackhawk revolver now that can push a 125 grn hollow point
