Oh, and one last thing I may add is that buds says the last price is 1102 which is false. I got it for 1125 shipped unless they're taking off the shipping or something which they may be doing.

Can you provide a link to a new 2010, commander sized 1911 that is bob'd for less than $1500? I can, but they are sold out:

Nighthawk, Wilson and Ed Brown seem to be asking a bit more for a bob-tail, if there is a less expensive alternative that is actually better, I would seriously like to know.

To each their own. I bought my CBOB in '08 before they were using forged frames. With the annual price increases and them now using forged frames the price sounds about right. Not to mention if your DW is one of the few that needs to go back to factory they will take care of you...some of the best CS I've ever known.
"As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion to your walks." -- Thomas Jefferson

There probably are better guns than DW, but even for $1500, it's still not a bad deal (now with a forged frame, still use Ed Brown parts, 70's design, great cust svc).

How much better are the guns at $1600? $1800? $2000? I don't have that answer, but I'll bet not much better.

                Just my $0.02

I would agree with this. After you get to a certain level, the price you pay goes exponentially up compared to the benefit received.

Got mine from gunsamerica.com 1089.00 + 25 for shipping. Then rifle gear is 75.00 for FFL+DROS so all together I am 1189 deep. NOT BAD from what I have seen around Cali. Ade's has one for 1399.00, other than that good luck finding one in CA...Grants told me to give them 1260 ( not including DROS ) and they would search for one. Said it could be weeks or months before they find one...

My feeling on the HIGH END 1911's like Wilson Combat's, Les Baer, NightHawk and others is when you get into those there more like a art form. Your not really going to want to carry your 5000.00 gun around in holster or use as your normal shooter and dirty/ding it up. Most are safe queens brought out to be shot only a few times and to show off. Some may be using there expensive gun as a every day shooter but I wouldn't. Then again I don't have unlimited amounts of $$ lol.

I'm out $1200 on the nose after FFL fees and everything so you actually got a better deal than I did! Congrats and post up some shots when you get it. It'll be almost a month for me!

Don't think of it as being "out" $1200, rather as being "up" $300.

I have to wait a month because I just picked up a new Ruger MKIII Comp. at a dealer. I asked him if he would hold the gun for me if I bought it right away. He agreed to hold it till I could dros it and that won't be till the 12th of may. Then the 22nd of may I can pick it up! I freakin hate california sometimes! I'm already eyeballing my next too which will be a Smith 629 8.5" bbl .44mag

I shoot all my guns, including my Baer. If I don't shoot it, I don't keep it. (And I'm not made of $$$, either. )

Nice pick-up on the DW, btw.
