I got mine a few weeks ago. Boy, this really changes the balance, performance and overall feel of the gun. I was worried about possible issues, compatibility, etc... but they were found to be without merit once I got my hands on the product.

My M9 upper now has the recoil of a 22lr. Follow up shots are childs play as one would expect with an effective compensator on a gun firing a low recoil round like 9mm. Frankly, I was worried that this would simply be a "look alike" toy that snapped onto the muzle only to be blown off on the first round. This device has reverse compensator cuts that are actually effective and is a real asset to the operation of the firearm, not some cheap toy.

The instructions stated that I should clean it after every 100 rounds, but I have fired about 800 to 1000 rounds so far without any bullet strikes, tipping or other adverse effects. Installation was straight forward and the only two required tools were suplied with the device. I was impressed with the overall fit, finish and high level of quality in the parts as well as the instructions for use / installation.

Communication from the manufacturer / seller was excellent also. He really kept all of his buyers in the loop as far as order times, progression through manufacture and feedback. I will do buisness with him again if the oportunity arises.

    I LOVE IT!!

Now I need one for my M96 (40S&W) upper...

      good for you.
i had the original and was really happy with it.
it is funny to read all the macho men laughing about
the 'mouse' recoil of the 9mm but in real life,
any gain in second shot recovery would be beneficial
      for the shooter, besides,
it is so much fun to shoot with it!!

        Nice.

I'm in the process of getting one myself. Ric's got some excellent communication. Can't wait to get it to the range.

sirguiles, thanks for posting that link to Ric's thread (s) on the Beretta forum. I didn't read the whole thread (345 pages!), but I read the ones by him and learned a lot.

Since his last post there was on the 24th of last month, I emailed him to see if he still has some or will be doing another production run. Also if the latter, what the cost will be.

When I retired in 2003, I bought the 92f that was issued to me in 1990 and I take it to the range whenever I go.

Update - Improvements To Guide Rod Assembly

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are now making the guide rod assemblies at the same local machine shop where the compensators are made. I have nothing but good things to say about Steve Bedair and the guide rods he was making for me, but the new guide rods are being made out of 316 stainless steel which is a much stronger material than the 304 stainless steel that Steve is using. The biggest improvement has been made to the retaining screws which have been redesigned to make them stronger. Steve was buying 304 stainless screws off the shelf and turning the head down and facing them to make them work for this application. We are now making the screws one at a time out of 17-4 stainless steel and the head has been redesigned to put more material between the threads and the bottom of the hex head hole where the allen wrench goes. The retaining screw is what holds the compensator on the gun while the gun is being fired and by redesigning the head and making them locally out of stronger material we now have a much stronger retaining screw.

The word is starting to get out about these new SGS style compensators. Most of the recent sales have been to people who are not members or who are brand new members of the Beretta Forum who heard about these compensators on other forums or by word of mouth from their friends. To help get the word out to more people that these new SGS style compensators are available again, I may start selling finished compensators on GunBroker and/or AuctionArms and/or GunsAmerica. However, in order to keep the cost to the buyer down, I am not going to let Brownells or any other distributor or middle man sell them. I will continue to sell these compensators directly to anyone who wants one. These compensators are not some cheap knockoff made in China or Taiwan. These compensators are made in the US by skilled machinists on CNC machines out of some of the best material you can buy. I personally inspect, debur, prep, assemble, and package each one of them by hand.

I have a few finished compensators available for sale at this time. Anyone who wants one should read post # 67 of this thread and then contact me by email. Thanks

                    Sunshine en route!

I just completed my transaction with Ric from the Beretta forums. My SGS style Compensator will be home shortly. I can't wait to take her to the range! It's like falling in love again.

Got mine, it's such a good piece of craftsmanship! Unfortunately, I've been sick as a dog last 4 days, so no time to install and test fire.

Comp'd berettas remind me of a smith 41 for some reason. I love those guns.

Got mine. Fits like a glove. I'll have to post a pic when I get a chance. The Stainless version is slightly off, but I still have to swap out the black accents.

Geez, the black versions make me want to own one. That's a smoking piece there.

LOL I typed in "Beretta grips" into Google last night and found the site right away. They've got some great stuff- I might send them a pic myself, or maybe just go with one they've got. Guess I shoulda searched before I asked haha.

I assume that you're happy with your grips and the service you received from gungrips.net then?
