Does anyone know if Sig Sauer will be offering their E2 grips as an upgrade kit in the future and if so, do you know when they might be doing this?

Sig Sauer E2 grips

From what I've been hearing is that Sig Sauer would like to see a "kit" available, but right now, production is focused for complete pistols and they'll worry about the kit later.
Certainly has me waiting on my G10 grip purchase.sigpic -
that's my understanding toobut right now, production is focused for complete pistols and they'll worry about the kit later.
you'll need to replace more than just the grip panels to be able get the same grip as the E2. you'll need to replace the main spring strut to clear the indention in the grips and maybe the mainspring and mainspring boot too.
i'll bet when they offer a kit, they bundle it with the short trigger too...they're trying pretty hard to move them out of inventory...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Just bumping this up. Sig now has the grip kit, but it's according to sig "for deparment purchase only due to installation" and "accepting orders from departments".
Let's just say I got lucky. In the kit is a reprofiled decocking lever, mainspring seat, hammer strut, grip panel and removal tool (almost impossible to take the grip off the frame without it and not scratching up the frame).
Install time: easy peasy.
Overall impression: (Censored). Wow, they're that good. Good texture and shape. I was wondering how solid it would be as a one piece and how it'd tention itself to the frame. Very very impressed.
Put it this way; I'm going to be putting up my set of factory black, factory camo and hogue g10's up for sale soon.
And a side pondering, I wonder if hogue will do a one piece no screw overmold style grip ala e2 pattern. That would be kinda awesome.sigpicComment

That's very good news. Thanks for the report.
Is it true that you can't use your regular mags with the kit and have to buy all new ones that are compatible?__________________________________________________ _____________________________________

At least on my 226, no. All my mags work fine.
I hear that mag issue thing is more with the 229 revision. Something about the framewell is different between the 9 and 40/357 frames.sigpicComment

Interesting... I'm going to have to try and acquire this kit.

dimensional difference.

i wish that the sig pro grip had a slightly more exaggerated indented area where the web of your hand goes like the e2 grip. it makes the bottom of the grip fill your hand better (also seen on steyrs, XD's, etc)
I do vastly prefer the normal trigger though. I like the wideness of it.The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. That isn't a grip issue.
The mag well opening in the frame of the 9mm 229 has always been different that that of the .40/357 frame. That is one of the reasons why you cannot convert a 9mm 229 to use a .40 upper with a simple upper and mag change...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Might want to get in touch with this member:
There is a website in Germany selling them. 106 bucks. Shipping is a pain though, 93 bucks for export fees.
Maybe a group buy? Anyone want to run with this? I know a member on a Glock forum bought one (he lives in Germany) and successfully installed on a standard p226. All the speculation about frame changes are not true. Older guns will need a new mainspring though, which the website mentions.
Here is the link:
Sounds very tempting. Who knows when these will be in CA? And the word I hear is that the kit may be a year or more out, if ever. Remember the SRT kits? They stopped selling those after they figured out they made more by selling the guns instead of allowing upgrades.

I might consider getting these one day, but the price kinda kills it. If the E2 dosen't flex at the back around the mainspring housing like some of the previous polymer/plastic grips I might take a serious look.
You guys that have these please give us as much feed back as possible, it will be greatly appreciated.Comment
