How Many Mags?

I've just acquired a couple of new semi-autos with another on the way and I'm gearing up with accessories. A big item being magazines.

On average, how many magazines do you all have for your pistols? Just taking an opinion poll.

I'm trying to get to 5 for each, then I'm thinking about getting to 10. Unfortunately, some are a bit expensive. I'm not into any competitve shooting, just generally plinking/target shooting without having to reload magazine too often.

I have 2 that came with the handgun and 2 additional mags that I bought separately.

Back in 1999 I got at least 4-5 quality hicap mags (factory/ OEM or MecGar) per pistol that I currently own or might possibly own in future.

That same mentality made me get 85+ USGI mags for AR15s, 40 mags for FALs, and 12 ea for M1A and AR10.

Paranoia is expensive, but it's nice to know I beat the ban.

At least five. After than, any time that there's a good deal, I will usually buy more. Mags are like ammunition - you can never have too many. Plus, you can always sell them off later if you need the $.

I vote for 3 as well for pistols. Any more than that, and they're just extras. 3 is good because if you did competition, such as IDPA, you have 1 in the mag-well and 2 in your mag pouches. Another as a spare wouldn't be a bad idea.

My 1911 mags are all numbered. Right now I'm at #14, and I also have 8 old competition mags that still work fine but are not in the normal circulation. Oh, and I also have 2, new in the wrapper CMC Powermags that aren't numbered. Let's see, that equals, um, about 24?

For 1911s I have around 35 magazines.

Don't ask me, they just started popping up everywhere...

I got 5 for the Sig Pro. Any more than that, and I think I'd blow through ammo waaaaaay too quickly, and my college budget doesn't allow me to do that

Initially, I thought (4) mags would be enough. The more I thought about them, the more I wanted. Right now, I'm trying to get about (10) mags per pistol, unless I have mags that will work in (2) pistols, then I try to have (15). No real reason, it's just the way my goofy mind works.
