It never reached the popularity Glock was hoping for. As such, its what I would call an uncommon caliber. It will likely be harder to find over time and likely a bit more expensive. I myself tend to stay away from uncommon calibers unless I have a very specific need, purpose.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

The .45 GAP was a solution to a uniquely Glock problem. The reason Glock created the cartridge was because the .45 ACP guns had grips the size of tree stumps and they wanted .45 ACP power out of a Glock 17 sized gun. They roughly achieved that, and the .45 GAP fits exactly into the Glock 17 grip frame.

However, no one else seems/ed to be having problems with fitting .45 ACP in their guns so it never took off. Plus, Glock now has the SF models so they're even moving away from it. I can see the Glock 37, 38, and 39 disappearing in the not too distant future.

I don't think it will go away. I would say its in the same boat as the Glock 20. It's not for everyone, but its a very nice gun. Speaking as a former Glock 21SF owner, the G37 fits better for me than the 21SF. Too bad there's so much hate out there. I just enjoy the gun for what it is, a fun to shoot gun in a 45 caliber.

Ammo is pricey and hard to find true, but as a 10mm owner, I'm used to it. In my experience so far, it's easier to find 45 GAP than 10mm. I just take my time shooting.
The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

As long as law enforcement uses/supports a particular cartridge that cartridge will not die out.

In the last 2-3 years, five state (GA, SC, NY, PA & FL) law enforcement agencies have adopted the .45GAP.

No wonder when I went to Vegas looking for .45 GAP ammo I couldn't find any... All the security guards bought them all

Actually, I went to Bass Pro by the Silverton Casino and they have a pretty sad looking ammo shelf, guess there are ammunition shortages and hoarders there too! LOL

The 45GAP is the answer to a question almost no one was asking.

I think Glock was a little jealous of the 357SIG and wanted their "own" round, but that is just a guess...

Since you obviously know so much about the .45 GAP round, why don't you enlighten us? What exactly was the intended purpose of the .45 GAP?

I never wrote that I knew JACK about the 45GAP other than it my guesstimate that Glock wanted their own "signature" round. From what I have read, it offers no advantage over the 45ACP round.

Take a minute and relax, I was not disparaging the 45GAP. I'm sure it is a fine round. My point is that it is going to have a very tough time gaining market traction.

Know that this is coming from a 357SIG fan .
