        Mil-spec-

        High profile 3-dot sights
        beveled mag well
        polished feed ramp
        throated barrel
        lowered/flared ejection port

        GI model-

None of that. And unless you're going for a "traditional" Government issue type replica sort of thing, you're gonna want that stuff.

As far as the difference in price, I've seen a difference of a hundred dollars new. I've seen Mil-specs for as low as $650 new. It can pay to shop around. And of course if you buy used, you can save more. Plenty of good used Springfields around and the great Springfield warranty follows the gun. Any problem with a Springfield (as long as it wasn't damage caused by a previous owner), and Springfield will fix it free of charge, including shipping both ways. And it won't matter if the gun is twenty years old and has had a dozen different owners. There's no time limit on Springfields warranty.

Last week I saw a new stainless GI for $669, black GI for $599 and a stainless mil-spec for $769. Location was Santa Barbara.

The only thing I'd change on a GI that costs money would be new 3-dot sights but they cost about $20. I would lower the ejection port myself and the rest is pretty much the same imo.

I feel the best deal on a California legal 1911 is the Parkerized GI and you get to build it up to what you like.
