    1911 problem...Feeding HELP!!

I have a performance Center S&W 1911 and I am having some feeding issues. Ever 6-8 rounds I get a bullet in partial battery. you can see below.

The PC1911 is a custom shop gun, I re polished the feed ramp, tried different ammo, used different magazines and the problem still exists...any ideas?

    Your help is much appreciated

Definitely send it back to S&W. They should fix you up.

What ammo and what mags did you try/use?
      Various 1911s.
      Some revolvers.
      Some rifles.
Back to owning some of those "polymer" guns.

Even though you are not the original buyer, I think dealing with PC would be your best bet. They will have the best idea on problems with their own modification package.

A good test to tell if your spring is an issue is ejected brass. If your brass flies to hell and gone, springs done or is too weak to start with. If it drops neatly within a few feet, it's just about right.

              Best of luck.

What he said. Some good advice.

If you are using standard pressure .45 ACP 230 gr FMJ ammo and the pistol is malfunctioning with known quality magazines, then there is definitely a problem with the gun.

If you are not a gunsmith or know of a local good 1911 experienced gunsmith, then send it back to the manufacturer, Smith and Wesson.

FWIW, most problems related to malfunctions with a pistol are usually one of two things, factoring-out ammo related problems. A: magazine or B: extractor.

                Good Luck,

P.S. For 1911's Wilson's are about the best magazines that you can buy.

Hp ammo can sometimes be touchy in a 1911. If its FMJ it may be your spring. Does it happen consistently with one certain brand more than others. I have a few 1911s that are picky on the gr. ammo thats used. I seem to find that 230gr. will work 9 times out of 10 on picky ones.

Looks like the round is experiencing the three point bind. The barrel may not sit in the right position, or the throat may need to be opened up. Either way, call S&W and see what they say.

                        Send to back to Smith.

They'll be the best source for solving service issues on their products.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I agree with everyone regarding sending it back ...but i would first try some different recoil spring rates

                            give S&W a call, i'd think they'd send you a shipping label

those Performance Center 1911s really are a cut above the regular 1911 offerings

Boy, seeing that photo just gave me a flashback. I have a Sig P229 that looked just like that at least every mag after 50+ rounds were fired. It took 3 trips to Sig CS and a letter to their President to finally get the issue fixed.....a new barrel. good luck. Perhaps it just needs a few hundred rounds to work out the kinks.
