Great choice. Hit the range for practice and get some ammunition for self defense.

I've always liked full size guns compared to compacts. I think you made the right choice.

                My first pistol was a Gen1 Glock17 ... sigh.

You made a good choice. I don't think I could ever sell my glock. I trust it too much.

Good choice. Can't go wrong with a g17. Nothing wrong with a 9mm for HD. The important thing is being able to hit the target.

Are my fellow CalGunners feeling ok?

I'll never sell my glock. It is actually my second handgun my first handgun was a XD-9. I got THE first one to hit the local shop I was waiting on it already paid in full. I was extremely disappointed with the gun and sold it to my uncle. It was a earlier model and it's finish was HORRIBLE and the gun jammed up all the time (not the shooter, the gun). Not saying they are not good guns and my uncle has a new xd40 and seems they worked out all the bugs especially the finish fairly quick. For me it was almost like destiny for that xd to mess up and for me to get my glock 17 because I love it. Such a simple weapon it lays in my night stand with a surefire G2 and my CRKT M16-12M when I get my carry license one day my glock 17 or a glock 19 will be with the same knife and light a long with me all day everyday I really prefer the full size guns as well. I have medium size hands and the glock 23 feels to small.

ha ha j/k - great pickup and a fine handgun. 9mm is lots cheaper and easier to shoot than fotay.

Glocks and 9mm seem to get bashed on by all sorts of mall ninjas for no good reason.

Inexpensive and reliable with tons of customization options--it's an excellent choice for your first pistol!

Congrats and enjoy....now go shoot the crap out of that thing!!!!!
