Pelican cases

Hello, I have a xd 9 and I want to get a case for it. I'm thinking about a small pelican case but all that I've seen online have the pick and puck foam inside, will that stuff fall out easy? Thanks

I used to get Pelican direct from the factory at a good price, but not anymore. The best price I have ever found is Foamerica. The can even cut the foam to fit you handgun exact, if you dont want to use the pull and pluck. I suggest using non pull and pluck and cutting it yourself with a long Exacto.

I agree, cut it yourself with a long exacto knife. I cut a large hardigg storm (now owned by pelican) case to fit an ar-15 and a remington 870 using an exacto knife.

What worked for me was to place the items out on poster board, trace around them, cut out the trace, stick that to the foam, and cut around the poster board.

Yes, use the AR15.com heat wire cutter method to cut your pelican.

Use PelicanCases4Less.com, they're the cheapest I've found. Look at a 1470, it's perfect for up to 4 pistols.

The pick 'n pluck foam does not fall out...it is all attached at the bottom of the foam sheet...you just pluck out the squares you don't want in order to create space for your firearm. It works pretty well and it's easy to do.

Unless they have different pick n pluck foam than the case I have the squares go from top to bottom and not actually "squares" of foam but individual long pieces. I use the case for recording equipment and if I want the item to sit half way down I have to pluck the entire piece and cut it to my desired depth and put it back in place. The foam will not fall out but your piece might not be completely secure if the depth you make does not secure the item with the foam on the lid. I hate that aspect actually but very nice cases.

I have four Pelican 1500 cases that I've had since the mid 70's.
The one I use for pistols has not had the foam cut for specific pistols, there's enough compression in the foam to hold the guns securely.

Ditto. Also, if you change your arsenal,. you just buy a new later of foam and puck that.
