Glock vs, 1911 + A time machine

Yes they would have chosen the 1911, and no not the Glock. But not because of the design, but the of country of origin. I don't really see the US military choosing an Austrian hand gun during WWI or WWII even if it fired magic bullets that always got head shots on enemy solders from 2 miles away while blind folded.

Austria was our enemy during both wars if you remember. Though there would probably be a very great many Glocks picked up off of german solders.

The only way that the Glock would have even been considered is if it had been originally designed around the .45. Remember your history, the 1911 came about because of bad experiences with the old .38 revolvers in use during the Phillippine Insurrection. Moro tribesmen kept killing officers because the .38 didn't put them down in combat. The US Army doesn't like losing soldiers in combat, but it HATES losing West Pointers.

I doubt they would have gone with a glock, definitely not a glock 17 because back then the bigger bullet the better, exp. .30-06
