Not really a defense gun, since I prefer .45 ACP for that.
I may have missed it, but I couldn't find that quote in the link.

The 40 S&W is not a higher pressure caliber than the 9mm.

They went to cast frames to stay in the market. They could have continued to use forgings with updated alloys and heat treatment (to withstand the pounding from a heavier caliber), but that would have cost alot more than they thought people were willing to pay.

They went to a cast FAL receiver as well. Not because cast was stronger, but to save money.

You're correct, 9mm and 40 S&W are both about 35,000 psi. I should have said 40 S&W is harder on frames because of the heavier bullets used.

A Browning Hi-Power is one of the guns I've really wanted that, for various reasons, I've never been fortunate enough to own. JMB himself said that the BHP was a further evolution of the 1911 design and everyone I know who has one says it's deadly accurate and will eat almost anything. IIRC, more militaries used this gun as a standard sidearm than any other gun up until the 1980's. It was the great grandfather of what would later be called "wonder nines" with a 13 round magazine as standard in an era when most auto pistols held 8 or less.
          "Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
[sigh] "Bullets, mortar fire, heavy artillery salvos, terminal syphilis, bad luck --- the usual things, Captain."

            Hi-Power

Paul 0660. Who set you up as the expert of all things? If I prefer .45 ACP
that is my opinion. If I don't see the 9mm as a defense weapon, also my preference. You calling it silly is arrogance. Nothing more.

Man I have 13 highpowers. I love them. But I now am liking the cz 75 guns a lot. Plus I have big hands. You will like the highpower. The trigger will smooth out after about 500 rounds. Enjoy.
