Glock 23 problem (limp wristed old man)

I won't say malfunction, because it may be my fault. I have 3 .40 handguns,
    Glock 23, 27, and 4006. I have no problems with the 27 or 4006.

On the 23 (3rd gen. 500 rds. since new). the slide locks open early, but only on my high cap magazines (they have the golck +2 end caps). No problem with the 10 rd. mags.

I have tried to make sure to lock my wrist. I have tried replacing the follower and spring on one of the mags. I have tried 3 different type of commercial ammo: lawmen, PMC, Independence and Blazer. Still no joy, any ideas?

If you remove the +2 end caps does it still do the same?

I heard that 10 rounder glock mag's magazine spring is considerably stronger. With the +2 base plates wouldn't it lessen the spring tension even more?

Yep removed two of the +2's same deal. Is there a 3rd party (not OEM) mag
spring that is a little stronger?

Well I think I going to give these a try:
            43815 1 GLOCK 19,23,32, RP RECOIL SPRING 15LB
            50200 1 GLOCK 19, 23, 32 GUIDE ROD 24.95 24.95
            75373 1 GLOCK 19,21,23,27, +10% XP MAG SPRING Pak of 3

I think I'll pull off the Glock +2 mag ext. and go with Pearce +0
            These are wolf springs

What myth are you talking about?

I have two 3rd Gen. 23's and have never had that happen.

So what happens when the locks open early? What happens to the slide?
They're not exactly easy to pull down to release the slide, so this is news to me.

It does not happen on my gen 3 G23, so I will be following this thread.

I have a Glock 23 and it's very reliable with 10 round mags. I've shot it strong hand only and weak hand only, no malfunction with 180 JHPs and 155 TMJs.

I have never experienced a malfunction using the 13rnd factory magazines that came with my g23 (3rd gen I believe). My 92FS has some similar funky issues all attributed to older magazines or cheap mags.

I just put a couple hundred rounds through my G23 RTF and didn't have a single problem. Sorry to hear about this.

                          Maybe a recoil spring problem?

I was reading on some other forums about how the pressure of the mag spring can affect the movement of the slide.

On my account I just put another 200 rounds through mine (around 1000 rds total so far) through the stock 10 round mags without a single malfunction.

I have a 3rd generation and about 1300 rounds down range and not a single hiccup

I have shot my 23 with regular cap and 10 round mags. The thing eats anything and NEVER a FTF or FTE nor any sort of malfunction. If your shooting your other .40's with no problem I would send the pistol back to Glock and have them MAKE it right.
