    Question for Sig owners.

What do you use to lube your pistols? Oil or grease? What brands? Thanks in advance.

you will get a lot of opinions on slide grease and all the latest oils and things to use, but I own several sigs and all i use on them is the hoppes gun oil (little orange bottle for 2 bucks) on the slide rails and it works just fine. i think all these special greases and oils is mainly just hype. just my opinion.

      I use oil.

My lubing usually depends on purpose. Prior to taking it to the range, (especially if I know its going to be a high round count) I use a combination of both oil and grease. Little bit of grease on the rails with a drop of oil floater. Oil on most everything else internal.

For any kind of defensive prep, oil only.

As far as brands go everyone will have their favorites.

I've used enos slide glide, tw25b, slip 2000 ewl, break free clp, all good stuff. Slide glide for grease, and slip2k ewl for oil are my personal favorites.

if you want to protect the rail life of your Sig, you'll use Slide Glide or Lubriplate grease on them. most oils aren't persistent enough to protect the rails in heavy practice

this isn't hype, it comes from the country's foremost Sig pistolsmith who sees hundred of Sig cross his bench every year. if you're going to a class or just shooting a lot in practice, lube the rails with grease...you can even put an oil float on top of the grease..

if it is a carry gun, you can go lighter to avoid attracting dirt...after all you'd be carrying it a lot and hopefully firing very few shots if you need it...so something like TW-25b or Miltech should be fine

you can do what you want with your gun, but this is just for maximun gun life...you could even use Rem-Oil, but i wouldn't suggest it

Just curious, is it okay to put grease on the rails of a Sig Pro? The reason I ask is because thats the only Sig I have right now.

As for general lube of the weapon, I use M-Pro 7 oil, which I believe is the same thing as Hoppes Elite oil.

I use Break Free pretty much exclusively. I've used Rig grease for longer term lube and storage with good luck.

Congratulations on the Sig pro, great gun in my opinion. IIRC Mr. Bruce Gray uses one as his carry pistol.

I generally use slide glide and few drops of oil on the rails (parts that slide on each other) and a few drops of a good quality oil on other moving parts/areas like FP-10 or Weapon Shield.

The gun has been incredibly reliable and accurate.

I use tetra grease on the slide rails and a drop or two of tetra oil on the sear and hammer.

Whatever I have at the time I'm cleaning. I'm not that organized so I have a few different cleaning kits/boxes which have a few different lubes.

Whatever the "tube" of grease that came with the pistol worked pretty well or Hoppes.

I use break-free for the internals barrel and inside the slide where the barrel touches and for the rail I use grease

9mmepiphany has hit it on the head. This is the best way to go if you want long rail life for your Sig.
The break free and CLP type lubes are to thin for rail protection. They run and don't say put.. Slide Glide will stay where you put it.
