    Ok stupid question

Do they make a 9mm revolver? like the .45 cal revolver but in a 9mm?
Reason I ask is I took my wife shooting and rented a 38 and she thought that was too powerful. I'm trying to get something that still has some knock down power. I was thinking a 32 caliber. It needs to be a revolver cause I dont want her to have to mess with the semi auto in a situation.

    A 9mm is more powerful than a 38.

Ruger, S&W, and Korth used to make 9mm revolvers. Korth will still make you one for about $10K.

When your wife was shooting a 38, was it 158 grain jacketed or the 125 grain fodder? If you have a K frame with a 4" barrel shooting 148 lead or 125 grain jhp the recoil shouldn't be that much. Now if you had a snub nosed J frame it may scare most petite females. I'm basing this from the experience when I was teaching my wife how to shoot. She wasn't intimidated by any standard 38 special loads shot from a K frame w/ 4" barrel, even through a S&W 66 w/ 2.5" barrel. She did not like the recoil of a Glock 19 and Taurus 92 firing 115-125 factory loads, but she did manage with the S&W 5906 all steel gun. It was the weight of the pistol that helped tame the recoil. May I suggest an all steel CZ 9mm pistol?

it strikes me that if your wife is bothered shooting a .38, that either the gun is too small or the load is too heavy.

i don't think i've ever seen a shooter intimidated by a K-frame shooting the 148gr wadcutter...starting someone with something smaller might be a mistake

Getting a 9mm revolver doesn't sound like the answer to your problem. Maybe try a heavy .38 special revolver and or some lighter loads.

The only non snub nosed 9mm revolver that I can think of is a Ruger Blackhawk.

S&W made some 3" & 4" 947's but they are pretty hard to find

To answer the OP's original question; yes, there is a 9mm revolver. It is made by Korth.

Ruger recently came out with an 6 round .327 Federal Magnum revolver in their SP101 series. Model, KSP-3231X is California rostered and has a 3 inch barrel.

                Ruger's SP101 is heavier than an S&W J-frame.

Reviews say it can use 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, and 32 H&R, plus the potent .327 Federal Magnum.

Might work out using one of the lighter cartridges.

                  Ruger SP101 with 148 LSWC
It'll work fine, should fit her hand well, and has very mild recoil with this load.

Get some wadcutters, They are light target loads for practice and save the full loads for social work. Wadcutters are under appreciated. They look weird because there is no bullet protruding, but are super accurate and punch paper like a hand punch, Nice round holes that can be scored from a distance.

it was just a rental one. Nothing major. We shot their reload ammo. She jsut said it has too much recoil. remember she is not a gun person. She doesnt hate guns or anything she just doesn't know much about them and " they scare her" (her words). I tried to get her to shoot my 9mm but she simply doesnt like the semi automatic handgun. She is more comfortable with a revolver so Im sticking to that. jsut trying to find somethign that still packs a little punch but its not gonna demolish her when she shoots it
I only want to buy what she is comfortable with and that limits me to what I can get as rentals. i dont wanna buy a gun and find out she doesnt liek it then I gotta unload it and lose money 0on every one till I find the one she is comfortable with

9mm is about as equal as you can get to a 38 Special, Non +P ammo is loaded by the factory light because of the older pistols around for it. In Handloads they are very close to the same. Plus +P is about as equal as you can get and a 357 mag is hotter yet. My wife shoots a M60 3" 357 usually with light target ammo but with the option of the 357 Mag for social work. We also shoot shot loads with it for snakes in the foothills. 9MM's have always been loaded to the max from the manufacturers.

I have a convertible Blackhawk, and recoil in 9mm is a bit 'snappier' than in 38Spl. For both my Blackhawk and GP100, 38Spl loads are pretty tame.

Maybe start out in a .22LR revolver and work up to 38Spl?
