    Eh.... Two Tone Trend...

I know it's the newest thing to have a Polymer two tone Pistol, but I don't realy get it... It just doesn't look right to me... Anyone have a reason why this trend is happening? Just something new/different?

I don't really like the black frame/stainless slide look, but that is just my opinion.

Other two-tone combos I like very much; Black slide over OD Green frame is my favorite two-tone look.

Also don't mind the matte stainless frame with a black/blue slide - especially on a fine 1911.

I don't know if it is just a trend or not. I won't buy a gun based on whether it is two-tone or not, but when I purchased a SA XD, I had to order one through the store. I could order any color combo, so I went with OD green frame and blue slide. My SW1911DK came with the reverse two-tone (Stainless frame/blue slide) and I think she is very pretty.

Nothing is new under the sun.
        A new trend?
        I think not.
Back in the 80s the new color combo was a dark slide with silver frame.
Then stainless pistols hit the market, and the all stainless silver look was in.
Then polymer pistols came out...making the frames silver colored looked so cheap, so they left the frames black and went with silver stainless slides, which always looked upside down and really dumb to me.
Stainless was such the rage that Glock made their slides from stainless, then coated them black...LOL.
I think the newest durable coatings with many color options are a great step forward.

          Different. Black can be boring.

I guess in some aspects I am a traditionalist (I guess I don't get bored with it ) , but I do have to admit that outwardly custom is cool (as in that Sig)

Just seems like every polymer frame line has it off the shelf now... In some cases it seems to scream "Hey look at me, this is plastic!!!"

I do have a Glock and an M&P 9 so I am not against polymer, just like the "integrated" look more...

The same reason you'd want a racing stripe on your solid colored car.

Or slacks a different color than your jacket.

Last year I wanted an XD Tactical, and the only one I could get ordered was one with a Desert Tan frame. I ended up getting it anyway, and it has grown on me quite a bit.

My next pistol will be a bi-tone XD9. A nice change from the many solid black pistols in my stable (although I do have a two-tone Sig Trailside and an OD G17).

                      Big for variety.

I've got an OLD Sig P226 with dark frame and not quite silver top half. Looks damn good to me!

I've heard a black slide is preferable over a silver slide for shooting in the dark (ie. home defense). I don't know the reason why, I've just heard the statement made before.
