There are mixed feelings re: SA 1911s?

I've always seen nothing but praise for them, and they seem to be one of the more regularly recommended brands for ~$1000 1911s.

I almost bought one yesterday. (was black, I don't remember the model).

there are mix feeling about any brand. especially at the mid to lower end of the market. but even at the high end, im sure some will argue how ed brown is better than les baer. the internet is a never ending 'who is better' universe.

As an update I picked up the gun today! It's currently in jail at turners It was the first time handling the gun I just saw photos from which I shared on the post. It was as brand new as the the one sitting in the Turners display case for $930 ~ something. The guy gave me about 300 rounds of ammo. a Range bag with 3 inserts for different guns, a nice leather holster but it's for a leftie (drag) the aftermarket adjustable rear target sight. And 7 brand new mags. 600 out the door plus 35 dros


Ohh and he also gave me a second set of wood grip that are brand new and the Azoom snap caps.

Apparently Springfield has a rebate on these guns going. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if the guy already registerd the SN and got the rebate, if not apparently all they need is the S/N and not the receipt to honor the rebate.

congrats on locking the deal down. Lets hear some range reports once you get it. Don't forget to run some JHPs through it!

I can't wait to get it! I've been wanting a 1911 for a long time just haven't quite found one at a price I want. Luckily this worked out. I'll post photos and give range reports.

SOme of the ammo he gave was hollow point which he shot out of his other 1911's. I got such a good deal because he is getting out of guns entirely so he pretty much just threw in everything he had and blew it all out. My gain is his loss!

Sounds like a friend worth having. You do realize what an INCREDIBLE DEAL he gave you, don't you? You should be jumping up and down like a six year old on Christmas morning who just got a new big-boy-bike. I'd happily pay $600 just for the gun, nothing else with it.

And what's the deal with your friend "getting out of guns entirely". Is he becoming a Buddist or something? To each their own.

I have the same pistol. I love the thing. My only gripe is that I had 3 failure to eject, the first due to a broken claw on the extractor. The third, I just don't know why. Regarding the broken extractor, I called SA up and they sent me the extractor. They wanted me to send in the gun, but opted not to. I has proven to be very accurate.

Overall, I like it. I just wish all the edges were rounded out.
