AB962 Preparation

I reload most of the center fire calibers I shoot, but I am concerned about the .
.22lr target ammo I use. Most of the time it is not available from local gun stores especially by the case. I have not seen any thing that says .22lr is exempt from the law. Any one else concerned about this?

Exactly. Given how "fun" it is trying to explain what a C&R + COE does at a local gun store, I can only imagine how many out of state places are going to flat out ignore us for a while. They have no idea what a COE is as it's a CA only thing.

Honestly i don't see it being any different than what Illinois residents do now. they simply provide a copy of their FOID and many places are happy to ship to them. They've been doing that for quite a long time now.

Yes, but how long did it take for them to gain that level of acceptance? I honestly don't know, but I'm guessing it didn't happen overnight. There were probably a few painful years of trying to get major online ammo sellers to understand the process.

Are you still able to mail ammo to yourself? i.e. can I buy some ammo that is mailed to an out-of-state address, then UPS it back to myself in my Cali address/

How's everyone dealing with the looming AB962 effective date in 2011? Stocking up, or hoping for repeal or successful court challenge?

I can not wait to see how many sellers on the Internet really accept that and will sell into California. Probably about as many as will sell C&R guns into California. Have you tried to buy C&R off of Gunbroker lately? Maybe 50% of those that could sell the item into California will!

You really can't compare individual sellers on gunbroker with major retail stores like Cabelas, Midway USA, Brownells and Bass Pro Shops.

for most people who just buy ammo locally, AB962 will not effect them in real significant ways. (privacy arguments aside)

yes some computer will be collecting your info and how much ammo you bought but you will still be able to buy your 100 rnd packs of WWB at Walmart before you hit the range.

Wal-mart is going probably to stop stocking handgun ammo. The labor costs involved in doing the paperwork for a 50rd box offsets the profit.

A lot of the "get all you can while you can" sentiment is from the same group of people who contributed to the whole ammo climate mess in the first place. It's not helping anyone. But hey, their money, their freedom.
