My standard XD did this as well. It bothered me for a while until I thought to myself that maybe having to press a bit harder on the mag release to drop a full mag might not be such a bad thing anyway. At least it only does it when the magazine is completely filled to capacity.Another issue with the XDM, is that when the mag is full and inserted in the gun, the mag release button gets stiff. Its much harder to push when compared to a partially loaded mag or an empty mag. I don't have the biggest hands but I find it easy to release the mag when its partially loaded or unloaded without shifting my shooting grip. When the mag is full, I have to shift my hand to get more leverage to release the mag. I talked with my friend that has the XDM and he said he found out this is common with XDM's but can be fixed by modifying the gun and the mags a little.
You can push up on the bottom of the mag with the palm of your support hand while pressing the mag release to make the mag come out much easier. Sometimes, it was just about impossible to get the mag release button to depress without pushing up on the bottom of the mag with the palm of my weak hand.Comment

I felt the same way when I picked up my new xdm. I'm a hardcore glock guy but wanted to give the xdm a shot with all the hype about it. I just couldn't get used to the trigger. I put 600 rounds down range and then sold it and bought my 6th glock. No real problems with it just didn't care for it much.]If its not a COLT its a COPY!Comment

doesn't the 9mm XDM only come with a 19 round mag? Course you have to be LEO to own them.

It came with two mags. Springfield has mags for sale on their website right now so I can buy another 4 19rd mags for under $100 bucks.
As for the mag release being stiff when the mag is full. I did discover the trick about pushing up on the bottom of the mag to make it easier to release. This is nice when unloading the gun but in a match setting where fractions of seconds count, I don't want to add another manipulation to my reload.
I took some sand paper and rounded some of the rough edges last night and blacked out the white dots in the rear sight. This helped the feel of the gun and the sight picture a lot. Its the little details in a gun that make it easier to shoot.
The gun came with a holster and a double mag pouche and my glock mag pouches work with the XDM mags. I'm going to shoot the gun as is tomorrow night at a USPSA match and see how it runs.
So far my shopping list for the XDM includes:
Fiber optic front sight......probably dawson prescision
Extended mag release......probably springer precision
Trigger job
Smooth trigger face
Anyone have suggestions on brands or where to get parts for XD and XDMs?
Anyone know where I can get a spare trigger, just the trigger itself, that way I can shave the lines off that one instead of the original one.
