That sounds a little pricey to me, especially after paying an FFL to receive it.

I have one and they are a hand cannon. Where the PM9 is a fairly gentle shooter the PM40 recoils stoutly - especially with self defense loads. You'll find that while it's a great self defense pistol it's not a range toy. Once thoroughly broken in I tested mine with Speer 180gr Gold Dot For Short Barrels and that's now what I keep in it.

Note that NM-Holsters is now making a version of their #1 holster (bottom right) and their mag pouches (bottom left)for the PM40. Top right is a Milt Sparks VM2 for a PM40 and their matching mag pouch (top left).

That's a good price, that gun is about $750 in CA. Or at least it was the last time I looked at them. I love my PM9, great carry gun!

Congratulations. The heavier weight bullets will abuse your hand. I found that for range time, lighter weight .40's were the ticket for lots of practice. Finish with a couple magazines of what you keep for SD and you should be able to easily keep in fighting form. Very nice pocket cannon : )

does yours run 100%? ive been looking through threads last night and now somemore today and there seems to be alot more probs with these than the 9. just wondering if most of the problems encountered (if i have any)can be ressolved without sending the gun in and if the newer production guns have the bugs worked out. the 3 most popular problems ive read on are the mag follower exploding, the slide release engaging and the barrel peening

Apparently those are common problems with the PM40. Two gun dealers told me they had to return to Kahr about half the PM40s they sold (mostly to LEOs) to have them fixed/repaired. I also read on this board most of those issues were fixed with the latest models.

Couldn't be happier with the PM9. But I suppose if you're a LEO and are working with a service firearm in .40SW, the PM40 is a good candidate for off-duty or backup gun - except if you get one of those problem ones.

Mine has never so much as hiccuped. Maybe the .40 has a problem the 9mm doesn't? I do rememeber reading about problems with the entire PM line early on but I (thankfully) haven't had any issues. I probably had 400-500 rounds through mine the first time I cleaned it and still no problems.

I've had 2 brand new Kahrs (P and PM series). I've also had 2 brand new Kahrs have to be shipped back to Kahr for warranty work, one 3 times. The problems are not ironed out. If you buy a Kahr, the chances of problems are high IMO. Kahr will fix them, but it'll cost you quite a bit of ammo to get there. That said, once the kinks are worked out they're fantastic.

I suspect that they did have more than their share of problems when first released. That's going to happen when you have a pistol so close to the bleeding edge of what miniaturization is actually possible with a round the size and power of a 40S&W. That's also going to almost automatically lead to a higher a higher return rate than a full sized pistol. Most I've that I've read from recent purchasers (not years old stories) is that the out of the box reliability is getting pretty good. In my case it needed a trip back to have the feedramp reshaped and polished. I've had that happen with a Springfield Armory 1911 to. Anyway it's been flawless since I got it back.
