I'm pretty sure it's Day X+30, but the 10-day wait applies no matter what, so if you're at Day X+32 and you go in to begin a new DROS today, you still have to wait 10 days to pick it up.

Each DROS must be separated by at least 30 days... so if the date of the DROS is the date that your 10 days started, then the same would be true for the next DROS. If the date on the DROS is the date you take delivery, then it would still be the same for the next purchase, and you could begin the process 30 days after taking delivery of the first purchase.

The dates on my purchase of my XD are 2/21 on the DROS and my receipt, with a note on the receipt to pick up on or after 3/4.... so DOJ only has 2/21 on file.

Heck, just buy used/PPT. No 30 day wait and buy as many as you want!

Easiest way to think about this is to eliminate the 10 day waiting period from the equation altogether. 30 days from one DROS to another. The waiting period doesn't factor in. The date you pay for the gun doesn't have to factor in either.

Man, this is way too confusing for some people.

              Ok, here's how it goes:

You purchase and DROS/4473 handgun on DAY X
You may pick up that handgun on DAY X+10 (DAY Y)
You may purchase and DROS/4473 another handgun at DAY X+30 or DAY Y+20

Remember, these are complete 24-hour periods, not just calendar days.

ALSO, this ONLY applies to guns in DEALER INVENTORY (with the exception of consignments). Dealer inventory includes any new or used guns, including guns you purchased online or from private parties that had to be shipped into a dealer for you.

Face-to-face private party transactions where both parties are present at the dealer are 100% EXEMPT from the 1-in-30 rule.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
