    30 days count

If I bought my hand gun online and plan to buy another one (online) when does the 30 day period starts and end. Is it on the day I picked up my last hand gun?

I think it is 30 days(24 hour periods?) from your last DROS time.

30 24 hour periods after your dros... lovely, eh? lol, I'd say just go with a rifle. You can buy as many as you want without the stupid 30 day wait in between purchaes. I'm kidding, I prefer pistols to rifles, but damn it's annoying.

Well remember that by the time you picked up your pistol a minimum of 10 days has passed, if you then order a new one, depending on seller and day ordered it can take a few days to get to your FFL, at that point you only have a week or 2 left to DROS, not that long of a wait.

            Ditto.

And if it's a matter of a sale being on and there being a good deal that you don't want to miss out on, you can initiate the process earlier, it just means that your latest purchase may end up being "in jail" for 20-40 days depending on how many you have "stacked up".
Obviously, this would require an agreement/understanding with the FFL to store the guns for more than the usual 10 days... maybe offer him a bottle of his favorite drink as a storage fee... or take him to the range on his day off.
Theoretically, you're limited to taking delivery of no more than 12 guns per year, but you could purchase all 12 in January 2 and just go in every month on the 13th and get a new one out of jail.

Or at least buy rifles to pass the 30 days while waiting for the next time you can get a handgun

It's 30 days from the start of dros right? If dros started on 3rd and you pick it up on the 13th then your next gun starts dros on the 3rd of the next month right?

                  +1

A year or so ago Turners had a few good sales on particular guns I wanted. I was 6 months backlogged at one point, being that I was buying from them they had no problem holding onto the guns.

the 30-day clock starts when the DROS is started, not on pickup.

If the 30-day rule puts a damper on your handgun purchases, get a C&R FFL and a COE (CErtificate of Eligibility from CADOJ) and you are exempt from the 1-in-30-day rule for ALL handgun purchases

I'm confused on this. If you buy on Day X, pick up on Day X+10, you can buy the next gun on Day X+30 or Day X+10+30?

I have a gun on-hold and am between Day X+30 and Day X+10+30.

Really? This is great! I'm going to go tomorrow to start DROS on the one I have on-hold. They said we needed to wait for basically 40 days after the first DROS. Not sure why they got it wrong.

Oooops. No, I had it wrong. Dealer is right -- they counted 30 days from the previous DROS. Just too anxious I guess.

If the month had 30 days, then yes. Remember though it's 30 24 hour periods, so if you bought your gun at 1:30 p.m.. You will have to wait till after 1:30 on the 3rd to buy start a DROS on a new one.

30 days from the start of the dros.

you can always buy it now and have it shipped there and not dros it till the 30 days are up.

I was at my local FFL the week after the last gun show and a fellow called in to DROS the 12 pistols he bought at the show. He is gonna have a LONG year. He was unaware of the idiotic 'one a month' rule.
