Oh ... the irony ... arrgh ... and joy ... sortof

When the Clinton ban was about to go into effect, I went a little crazy and bought ummm ... a few Glock 17s and 19s, and a whole bunch of mags in various capacities. I took then all out, shot 'em a bit, and then pretty much stored them away.

In the intervening years I sold most of that collection, having had only 2 G17s left at the beginning of the year. Having chosen a new pistol as my "favorite" I got rid of the last Glock 17 recently.

And then ... while searching for a damned funnel to fill up my transmission fluid last night ... I find it:

A box FULL of pre-ban Glock 9mm magazines. The condition is not great ... some obvious rodent involvement here, but I am sure they can be rebuilt.

Crap ... it's like that story about the woman who sells her hair to buy a watch chain for her husband, and he sells his watch to buy her a comb for her hair ... only not nearly so heartwarming.

What's the problem, I see this as motivation to go get another Glock and some rebuild kits.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

You've got the mags, you can always get another Glock.

Yesssss ... it's absolutely diabolical how I managed to somehow procure a mix of 20 or so 17-round & 33-round generation one Glock magazines. Then I coated them in rat (? ... guessing) piss and carefully carved out special rat-shaped tooth marks in the plastic ... just so I could buy a bunch of rebuild kits to get them usable ... which they would have been before the rat piss/bite procedures.

And to think ... I did this so that I can buy a pistol model that I just sold in order to use them.

Clearly, I am a mad genius.

I'd be interested to see what rats could do to mags as well.

I just find it hard to believe that they'd eat the mags for no reason. Do you recall coating the mags in EZ Cheese before storage??? (to prevent rust, obviously)

I'm from the health department, and I'm afraid I will have to take those away from you because rat urine could have hantavirus in it...

                          just kidding.. good find!
