    Felt her up :)

    Hey fellow gunners,
I thought all 1911s felt the same, but per your advice to feel all the pistols and get the one which feels best in my hand. I went to a local shop last night and fortunately they had pistols from the 4 major makers, Colt, SA, SW, and Kimber. Of the 4, SW and Kimber felt the best, SW won out because of overall appearance also to me. The grip felt a tad smaller than the other 3 and rounded off also. Felt both standard grip and with crimson laser grip. It was like butter, so smooth. Never felt a pistol so perfect in my hand. Thanks again everyone for your advice. On a side note, the Colt they had was a black mo bells or whistles model and for a brief moment in time, I truly felt the history of all the wars which this pistol was used in. Talk about nostalgia

1911's were designed to fit a man's hand perfectly, because the design was handed down to JMB by God Himself. Buy one and be happy forever!

Not a "major" maker perhaps but I'd suggest the Dan Wesson 1911s - the PM7 and the CBOB. The CBOB has a slightly rounded butt, some like it & some don't.

I love my 1911Sc. It feels so good in my hand and the trigger pull feels excellent. Any pictures?

nice! Now aren't you glad you didn't just go buy something that somebody recomended?

Just so happened that in '08 I chose the S&W 1911 with Crimson Trace grips as well. I love mine and have only had 1 jam in aprx 2k rounds through it...
yeah those darn aluminum wolf casings don't like to eject sometimes.

The thickness of the grip panels, the size and shape of the mainspring housing, and the length and shape of the trigger can all be changed.

You forgot front strap treatments (checker, serrate, other).

Dude, if you're in Vegas, I would get a blued series 70 Colt.
The best 1911 I have is a Baer TRS but there's just something about the original Colt's that I like. And it's the ultimate base gun to do custom work on.

I thought I read somewhere it would be available in CA, but I could be completely mistaken.
