if you are a 1911 guy I would recommend the usp expert in 45, it has a match grade trigger that will compete with most 1911 and is on the list for us
rumor has it that they quit making them recently and you know what that means

I own an HK45 I bought it cause I thought it was cool. (does anyone need a better reason). I soon found it to be Gods gift to all 1911 enthusiast. I currently dont understand how any 1911 manufacturer stays in business with the full size HK45 on the market. looking for a second one in Norcal if anyone knows where I can find one.

the USP family was getting long in the tooth and it's ergos were dated to say the least...to say nothing of their odd rail....and the P30/HK45 was introduced to replace it in their line

the P30 is a USP updated with the ergos of the P2000

the HK45 was what HK came up with, with input from Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathron, when they figured that there wasn't a big enough market to justify a HK manufactured 1911...not enough folks would paid what they would have to charge. they even have grip panels designed by Nills

The ergos are great on the HK45 especially the ability to change out the backstrap. It is an HK trigger so I would recommend sending it out to Bill Springfield at www.triggerwork.net. He does wonders on HK and VERY QUICK turnaround (within a week). He has done all of my HKs and I can assure you that they are EXCELLENT.

Being old fashioned...I prefer the USP and in CA you can buy 2 USPs for the one HK45 +/-
Good Luck, regardless of what you choose, you will own a pistol that is made well and will eat anything you feed it. I have had 10+ USP's since '94 and NEVER..I said NEVER had a failure to feed or eject. I would trust my life to one.

I have both. Trigger is similar. Ergonomics are incredible on the hk45. The USP looks like a combat weapon, the HK45 looks like a super model. I often pull out the HK45 just to admire it. Worth the premium in my mind. If I ever must sell one, I know which one would sell easiest!
